I see you are unable to discuss the facts but must resort to personal attacks and character assassination.

It's always effective to single out the most rare and unpopular thought of some unknown liberal and assign it to the entire left as though they're all behind it.

To think we have an effective democracy is laughable.

Socrates urged the thirty tyrants, nobody is perfect.

The US is so incredibly right wing they call the Democratic party “leftist.” There’s a history and tradition of leftist philosophy since the French Revolution. To think the current Democratic party represents anything close to that is absolutely delusional.

It's the Left that made a ”Trump” possible--when you play identity politics, gang warfare is inevitable.

Or people so lacking in class and cognizance as to categorically imply that all supporters of the party they oppose are "stupid".

The problem isn't Democracy per se it is government. Unrestricted government, which by the way is where the left is trying to take us, and where Socrates and Plato's philosopher kings ultimately lead, is disaster in the making. Why? Because no one knows everything or how everything works together. Hence the chief product of out of control government is unintended consequences.

Nope. The problem is Democracy--its essence, fundamental principle is majority rule with no regard to minority rights, --and the smallest minority of all is the individual; there is only one of each--as Socrates learned via hemlock.

I see nothing valid in that statement. We have a representative democracy, rational standards on freedom of speech, civil rights, assurance of minority rights, and all the structures in place that would be needed to enforce these rights and freedoms. All we need is to collectively make sure it is all used as intended.

The right is now on a mission to criticize, attack, tear down, and eliminate everything we have that stands in the way of totalitarianism, despotism, and dictatorship!

I'm pretty sure the clown parade has been building for quite some time. At least since Johnson brought many of the lower class out of poverty, gave non-white Southerners a seat at the table, and enacted laws to protect our environment.

I can just imagine the horror, these brought to conservatives thought.

Do you deny that the Republicans are trying to either eliminate Democrats or to lock in one-party rule?

Before you answer think about all the various lies and tricks to lock Democrats out of processes.

You know that Socrates never existed, right? That he was a fictional character that Plato used to express ideas that he didn't want to get in trouble for. The Apology, Plato's most famous work, involving Socrates, was not a defense of Socrates, put rather a criticism of the dominate society and power structure. If you pay attention, for his "crimes" Socrates asked for a heroes welcome.

In Plato's story, Socrates wasn't judged by a democracy, he was judged by a chamber of the leading men of the city.

TRUMP IS!!! He isn't confused and burdened by book-learning or the history of politics and laws. Everything he says comes straight out of his uncluttered, unfettered, uneducated brain. Or maybe it's that hole at the other end.

While I'm sure that ignorance plays its part, it is mostly that believing in things that are demonstrably false, that often makes conservatives appear clownish.

The, "the Russia collusion hoax" is little different than the "global warming hoax" or the "evolution hoax". Seems to be more about those who see hoaxes.

But you see- you speak like those who think that are categorically republicans, as if democrats did no such thing. The evidence that the russian collusion was a scheme developed by the Clinton team is pretty well rock solid, and that does make it a hoax. The question is why liberals discount evidence they don't like, and embrace rumor they do like- and call it :"evidence"

Global warming is not a hoax, but many of the people who are using it as a "Sky is falling" scenario are using it as one. After all the world in going to end in 10/12 years if we don't eliminate airplanes, quit using fossil fuels, and rebuild every building in America. That's asylum-grade lunacy, and it's not conservatives pitching it. he legitimate argument is how much humans can actually change what is happening- and if we should learn to adapt rather than attempt to rebuild the worlds cycle of change.

I don't know of any who deny evolution, although I'm sure there are some. After all, there are a significant number of people still trying to prove the earth is flat. I can pretty well attest that there are many who seemed not to have evolved mentally, who continue to promote the lunacy described above.

Clownish? If you are unable to see beyond your nose and think you are smarter than the rest of the world- you probably will look like a clown.
"No emergency" at the border for example- is believing that something that is clearly demonstrably true is not happening, because it serves your political purpose at the moment. Denial of facts in evidence for the emotional need to obstruct the president. That's clownish.

Not according to Xenophon of Athens. I'll accept his work.

BTW: If progress is always coming, what happened to Rome and the Dark Ages? Progress can stop at any time, and right now the cultural trend is shifting towards slowing it down. (Reminds me a bit of Issac Asminov's Foundation) How soon before inertia takes over and we start falling back into the next Dark Ages? And if progress does falter, how will mankind cope with the coming Ice Age--which, based on geological history, is inevitable? The future, at present, based on past history, does not look welcoming.

Clowns? Are you referring to AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and their progressive supporters and their professed love for Maduro? Must be, right?

I'm sure that Clinton's people tricked Trump's people into meeting with Russian operatives and then tricked Trump's people to lie about it. And I'm sure that Trump's resistance to the Russian sanctions has nothing to do with it.

I can just imagine the scene.
    ring, ring
"hey Kim, this is Valdimer, launch a round of missiles when Trump is sitting with Abe. Show the world we have him under control."

"I'd love to. He hangs on my every word. He thinks he is in love with me. Can you believe the Americans elected such a dope. I'll squash him like a bug."

Imagine is a wonderful took and the left has mastered it to the point that they can't tell what's real and what's imaginary.
Unfortunately, that is a very dangerous condition to be in. It causes you to make big mistakes, and you look stupid.

So do you suppose that Cebes, Simmias, and Phaedo, are also real characters, or Demea, Cleanthes, and Philo, for that matter. Plato presented his ideas in the form or dialogues. He would take a few characters and have them argue for their side. The Socratic method, what Socrates is most famous for, is, in reality, a Platonic method. If Plato had not written it, no one would have heard it. Possibly there existed a real person that Plato modeled his character after, but the Socrates of Plato's books, are speaking Plato's words, expressing Plato's ideas.

    So you’ve said; I disagree.
So you believe what you believe,
And I'll believe what I'll believe.
Now, do you see what I mean,
Belief is not subject to a majority?
And that's why I believe in Socrates.

But you believe what you believe,
Don't you just love our liberty?
