You can list that as #6 and #7 priorities, after #s 1 through 5.
In any case, my point was a bit humorous but what I meant is that politicians place self-interest ahead of the country's interest.

A good article you posted. I believe they overly-emphasized the worst-case scenario, but it is nothing to be ignored. Back in 2000, Gore let image-consultants craft his strategy. While G.W. was creating a war room to strategize w/ his advisors, Al & Tipper went to a movie w/ Bill & Hillary. They were clueless!

But, though Biden has been playing it very calm & low-key, I believe he, now, knows better than to drop his guard. What I'm saying-- and, of course, there's no way to know at this point if the author of the Guardian article, or I, am correct-- is that his public statements, I see, as meant for the public. While he, naturally, has to work on preparations for the transition, he already has a horde of lawyers, specializing in election law, who were at the ready for the election. After 4 years of seeing that there is no floor to the depths Trump is willing to sink, it's hard to imagine that these have all been dismissed or sent on holiday, rather than keeping a close eye on all developments.

Yes, I've been feeling more reassured lately, including because Republican legislatures in four swing states have said they are not about to ignore the popular vote in their states. So it seems like Trump's effort will fail. Hopefully.
