Democrat and Republican Senators spent Saturday and Sunday negotiating a bipartisan relief bill. Republicans gave some things they didn't want. Democrats gave some they didn't want. By yesterday evening, the Senate could have passed a relief bill which would have helped individuals with direct cash-checks (which would not have to be repaid) and helped businesses (our employers) with loans (which would be repaid).

After taking the weekend off, Nancy flies back to Washington D.C. and she and Schumer stopped everything. She says there is no bipartisan bill, and she intends to trash everything the Senators worked on and write her own relief package. I'm sure that will fly when it hits the Senate like the hundreds of other totally-partisan legislation that Nancy's House has passed.

Nancy just ripped up everyone's cash checks for the time being, just as easily as she ripped up the SOTU speech.

Meanwhile "shelter in place" and pay your bills.

The problems is not all Democrats or all Republicans. The main problem is Nancy Pelosi. This is not the time to "play".

This is only the first round, More is certainly coming. Why don't the Dems just get the people what they need now, and negotiate for more later?

    I know why.

    Pawns.

there is almost 500 billion for the corps, lets add that to future bills and just pass the peoples part now

repubs will only help the people if corps get a sweet deal in the same bill

no one trusts the repubs to do what is right later when they wont do it now

    I support a bailout 100%.

    Because I'm a Democrat.

But the U.S. has become a country where disasters happen when Republicans are in power, putting the country into record debt by lowering taxes and giving tax breaks to big corporations with little effect on GDP growth.

And when things get dramatic, voters give power to the Democrats to clean up the mess.

So if you look at the trend since 1989, the country can only afford to elect a Republican when things are going well.

What bill? The Democrats haven't submitted their bill yet! They walked away from the bill that was on the table!

How many times do we need to go over this?

The GOP wants to throw America Working People under the Bus and give Mnuchin a $500 Billion Slush Fund to Bailout Business.

The GOP is holding this deal up.

    ^And, Everybody KNOWS it.

Wow, the mental gymnastics are impressive.

The GOP is holding up the deal that the Dems walked away from.

    Makes perfect sense.

It seems that you can't even stop equivocating. You seems entirely unwilling to support anything, even a bi-partisan bill crafted in the Senate because you can't stop the fan glory, can you?

If employees are forced to stay home and the employing business goes bankrupt, where do you think those employees are going to get paychecks after the crisis?

The Senate bill offered cash to the people and a loan to businesses. Loans have to be repaid.

That's why Petty Nancy is throwing a stick in the cogs. She didn't get to write "her" bill. The compromise bill by the upper house of Congress just won't do because the control freak didn't participate in the bipartisanship of our Senate.

is there a condition in the bill that any corp that gets the loan, that they can't fire any employees until after the loan is paid off

let's just give the American people the extra benefits dems want, they are not asking for too much - is it really worth holding up the bill to keep these items off the bill

You can make yourself look foolish by pretending otherwise, but Nancy Pelosi's #1 reason for scuttling this is because she can't let Trump have the win of rushing relief money to the American people. She just can't have that. She has to have her claw-like mummy hand on the money when it's sent out, and she doesn't care how long it takes to get her talons on it, or how much Americans have to suffer while she plays her egotistical political games.
