They both continued a failed foreign policy that will eventually be the downfall of America. Get out of the middle east. Stop assassinating people.

That is not accurate, Soleimani has no affiliation to the Benghazi attack, to say he was the leader of the attack is completely off base. Also, if you are at all familiar with what happened with Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, he ran away from home to meet with his father(he was living with his grandparents) but his father was killed in a drone strike before he could get to him. When he ran away from home, he was staying with his cousins who were active members of Al-Qaeda. As far as we know, he was not meeting with them to join Al-Qaeda but was meeting with them in an attempt to get to his father. When his father was killed he wrote to his grandparents and told them he was planning on coming back home soon, but was unfortunately killed before he could make the trip back.

The intended targets were actually members of Al-Qaeda, who congress did authorize military strikes against. However, that isn't to say the president's drone powers did not go unchallenged in congress. There were actually several attempts to create more oversight, which in my opinion should have passed.

    Here's one example from 2013 https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...beefed-oversight-drone-attacks-flna8C11566192

and if you like, you can read my thread I made on Obama's drone policy from 2013 as well (note that may of the links and images within the thread are not working anymore)-> http://www.politicalforum.com/index...enient-results-of-obamas-drone-policy.329485/

More terminally misinformed GOP propaganda. Of course the difference is this guy was the number two man in the Iranian government and don't think this is over yet. We got lucky when the Iranian rockets didn't kill any Americans. I hope it works but Trump's record would not indicate it LOL.

Soleimani is literally a commander in Iran's military, it was the Iranian government who appointed him his position, and it is the Iranian government who appoints his replacement. The weapons he sold to militants didn't come form his home or his private bank account, they came from the Iranian state.

Also, the same argument you are making for killing Soleimani could also be made for the killing of Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein, or Osama Bin Laden, yet we still got authorization from congress for all three of them. The bad things that Soleimani did is no excuse for abandoning our constitutional law, and skipping out on getting congressional authorization. Period

AUMF 2001-2002 covers it. Sorry if that rocks your boat but it does. Is it time to revisit the AUMF? Probably, after all it is twenty years down the road. By the way the Brits made at least two attempts on Hitler's life both failed. We so tried to kill Rommel and did kill Yamamoto.
