I would guess that they received them from members of the CBC. African-Americans sometimes wear Kente cloth (usually the scarves) at ceremonies especially graduations - I'm convinced they also do this sometimes at lodge meetings (those are secret so can't be sure) - special events/honors ceremonies. So, they joined the black Congressmen in this tradition. Nice gesture ...

USPP officers and other assisting law enforcement partners did not use tear gas or OC Skat Shells to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed.
