So, in your mind, -only- Conservatives are self-absorbed, self-righteous, and only care about winning, with no regard for anyone else?

I'm not as narrow-minded and harshly judgmental as your post implies. The behaviors I've observed in some conservative politicians of late are behaviors I wouldn't personally participate in. Nor would I support a liberal politician who behaved in a similar manner. Your posts continually offer extreme choices only. I'm for moving away from that extremism toward a more balanced, humane view, coupled with more civil behaviors on the part of EVERYONE. That means BOTH SIDES--including yours. Are you capable of that? Or, is winning more important for you than the health of the nation that we all say we love, including liberals?

So far, you have presented yourself as holding the position that:
    - Conservatives are self-absorbed, self-righteous, and only care about winning, with no regard for anyone else
    - Liberals are not.
    Is this accurate?

My feelings at the moment on this question are that there are a minority of conservatives & liberals who have become so extreme that they behave in the manner your posts describe. I have noticed more of those behaviors coming from Republican conservatives in Congress and the White House than liberals. I've also seen those behaviors displayed more by current Republican candidates for office than Democrats, most notably in the states of N Dakota, Texas, Georgia. So far, I've seen something less extreme from the Democratic candidate in N Dakota. Personally, I believe any candidate who openly expresses or advocates this sort of extremism becomes a force for division in our country & shouldn't be supported by the voters--regardless of party. I'm personally a liberal--indeed, a Democratic Socialist, in the same sense as Bernie Sanders & Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. I'm personally farther left than many Democrats. But having said that, I'm also cognizant of the polarization & division of our country politically right now, and very concerned. So, I'm willing to compromise some of my own ideals and support candidates who lean more toward the center or middle ground as a means of re-uniting our people & our nation. Does that help?

    So when you said...
My general impression [is] conservatives are too self-absorbed and self-righteous to care what others think, believe or regard as important. They just care about winning, giving little thought to how their success affects others who might disagree with what they regard as important
    ... did you speak incorrectly?

Like most who post on this forum, sometimes my response is affected by the emotion stirred up by the post I'm responding to, or to the last news article I read or heard or watched before my post. Sometimes I feel as though conservatives in general have become so extreme over the past few years, that they fit the description you quoted me on above. But my nature as an individual & a person is to be fair and thoughtful most of the time, and I would admit there are conservatives out there who aren't sucked into the extremism that dominates the media right now. I know a few of those personally, and I've seen some on TV as well. John Kasich is a good example. I don't agree with him politically, but I respect him as a person & fellow citizen. I'd be much more comfortable with him as President than the disaster we have now.

So, you agree you SHOULD have said:
A minority of conservatives & liberals who have become so extreme, self-absorbed and self-righteous to care what others think, believe or regard as important. They just care about winning, giving little thought to how their success affects others who might disagree with what they regard as important.
    Right?

Yes. Though I'd make note of the fact that the "minority" you refer to is highly visible in the media, and often becomes the only spokespersons representing their particular point of view (conservative or liberal). And, that minority shouldn't be allowed to be the only visible spokespeople for either side. The majorities of both sides owe it to themselves & the nation, to offer spokespersons who accurately reflect the views of that majority rather than the extremist views so often cited.

Good of you to correct yourself.
Too bad it took so long to get you to do it.
