Despite what the NRA tells you, literally no one is trying to end legal gun ownership

The NRA and right-wing media invented the "liberals want to take your guns" lie as a tool to fight against event he most basic, commonsense gun reform. Universal background checks are just a tool to bolster EXISTING LAWS, making sure that people who aren't allowed by law to buy a gun can't skirt around background check laws. An assault weapons ban would only prevent the sale of such weapons after the law took effect. Nobody is going to kick down anyone's door to take their previously-purchased AR-15s. As for the tired, "Without my AR-15 I wouldn't be able to defend my home or hunt", explain how people were able to do those things for the ten years during with assault weapons were previously banned from 1994-2004. Did nobody hunt during those years? Was nobody able to defend their home from intruders? Literally not one Democrat is seriously suggesting that all guns be banned. If you really feel you are right on this issue, you should't need to lie. (And no, conspiracy theories about SECRET plans to "take mah guns!!!" don't count.)
