How tragic! Can anything be done to reduce the possibility of workplace fires like these happening in 3rd world countries? Do attitudes have to change?
they don't have any public safety rules or they have but they are ignored. Cultural thing related to people caring more about other stuff like having something to eat. You know, Maslow's hierarchy of needs. First, you have to eat or shelter. Then you care about fires. I do remember, about 10 years ago, in Brazil, I was shocked that bicyclers did not wear any green reflective vests required by law to wear on public roads. There will be no night passing without a fatal car accident because the driver couldn't see the bicycle. I try not to judge as much, OP.
India is one of the most corrupted place on earth. Combine this with the caste system and you'll understand why such tragedy happens.
