You said "There is nothing supernatural about a dream". I responded with "A point NOT in dispute." What's the problem?

If you are not proposing that the dream in question is a supernatural event what is the point of your OP?

You didn't say "There's nothing supernatural about that dream", you said that there's nothing supernatural about a dream".

I'll ask again but in a different way. What is your major malfunction?

I ate shrooms hundreds of times in bygone years. I have experienced and seen so many things, I long ago learned that anything is possible and became familiar with the impossible.

I've seen some videos on YouTube of people taking some sort of substance that apparently causes them to have out-of-body and other supernatural-like experiences. Have you heard of those too? I wish I could remember the name of the substance. It sounds like some crazy stuff. I would never do it.

I have had one of those, about 20 years ago (an OBE) but not directly drug induced.
Science sometimes attributes OBEs and NDEs to DMT an endogenous substance produced by the pineal gland, DMT.

Funny thing is, DMT is a schedule one, controlled substance. Therefore, we are all guilty of manufacture and possession of DMT.
And I do plan a thread on these topics, soon. Not tonight, but shortly.

    Anyhow, some reading on DMT.

It should have seemed obvious that "a dream" referred to the OP subject.

What was obvious was your trolling. The funny thing is, I read some of your other posts and you sound like a conservative like me. But I'm guessing that you're an atheist, unlike me. Is that accurate or not?

Yes, I believe that my dead brother communicated to my nephew through a dream. If God and the afterlife is real, then perhaps you and I will one day find out if my belief is accurate. If not, we'll never know as we will no longer exist.

I did acid a few times in my early twenties (I'm 53) and I had a lot of fun. Nothing bad at all. I remember laughing a lot with my friend as we stayed up all night looking at a huge book of Farside cartoons. Remember him? Ha ha.

I must say, there seems to be something in that substance that opens one's minds to deeper thought.

Anyway, after using a handful of times, I determined that maybe it was better if I abstained thereafter.

That's hilarious. In what party of the country was that? And, out of curiosity, in what part of the country do you reside now? I grew up in central Ohio and now live in central Florida.

Did acid once, psilocybin hundreds of times. Been over 8 years and around 17 years since last heavy use. While I have no plans to hunt shrooms this coming season, I cant rule out further use.

~ Yes I think it's possible that the deceased communicate with the living - just do not know the how or why. We each make sense of these things in our own way.
I wonder if this had any effect on Matt ?

Reality dictates that we cannot "Know" what may be taking place in the unknowable realm (in there is one) beyond our lives, instead we speculate and attribute events to the unknown as is our nature. That said it is certainly possible that Matt was contacted unconsciously by whatever the dead become....who knows, there are too many accounts to dismiss out of hand.

Not trolling. I have an interest in religion. That being said, I see religion as being long on claims and short on proof. I post in the religion discussion in part hoping someone will actually provide proof of their claims.

With respect to the afterlife. If it is is not real, you won't know as brain activity will cease. My thoughts are that a belief in an afterlife is a form of denial.

I am a libertarian sort of conservative. I guess I am an atheist but the term means different things to different people.

of course which is more likely to pop into existence from nothing... an all knowing, all powerful, never changing jealous and vengeful God, or a Universe that then evolves over time
