The tea party will soon be reduced to a question on Jeopardy so I think it is fair to ask : Did they take the country back? And if so, to where or when? When they weren't screaming about keeping the government's hands off their Medicare or shuffling out to the mailbox for their Social Security cheque they were screaming about 'taking our country back'. What did they mean and did they do it? As far as I can tell they were just another far right wing flash in the pan that seems to happen whenever a Democrat gets elected and in this extreme specific instance a reaction to Obama and all he represented of the new changing America. Unless I'm missing something they took nothing back to anywhere.

Back to a mythical, picket fenced 1950's as far as I can see.

Let's face it they're deviously clever enough to have devised a time machine. A quick glance at the mathematical formulae presented on their placards should have been the clue to that.

"Taking MY country back" always meant just one thing to the TPers...."A country where WHITE men are President"

They never cared about deficits or debt or spending or size of Government before 2009....we had boosts in all four under Dubya. Was there a SINGLE Tea Party protest?

And if you don't think it's racism....did you ever hear then say "Take our country back" when it was Clinton running for re-election in 1996 or Gore running in 2000?

I think the TP was at first very upset about bailouts and such. Then the GOP money got involved and next came some really wacko people. Now it is just a joke.

Yeah, the whole Leave It To Beaver '50's thing has always kind of puzzled me. About 20 years ago my dad said that it always made him nervous when white folks started talking about "the good ol' days". Har!

It was a dodge from the start. A way for Rightwingers who said NOTHING about deficits and spending and size of Gub'mint under Dubya to pretend they were "something new" and not look like hypocrites.

on a national level, America rejected the Tea party. In fact, they were whipped so bad that some members here refuse to acknowledge that they even existed.

Yet another TP masturbatory circle jerk? Leftists must be feeling particularly insecure and vulnerable about something lately. I guess "voter suppression," "war on women," "republican racism," "Koch envy," "income disparity," "global warming," and all the other rabble rousing leftist BS weren't playing well in the polls, so the agitprop leftblogmachine has blared out that frothy "TP hate" is the next strand of spaghetti to throw at the wall.

This one won't stick either, sorry.

Tea Party was just there to remind conservatives of their conservative principles. This came as a result of the progressive/socialist democrats moving too far left and pulling some "establishment" Republicans with them.

You elected the most left-wing President in modern American history. A guy who platformed on "fundamentally transforming America" and started his political career in the living room of a left-wing domestic terrorist. You were expecting the right to treat him the same as other left-wing Presidents?

It's pathetic when white libs play the race card to try and make minorities like them, but the "taking America back" is not unique to the Tea Party.

His victimhood chipped shoulder can be seen from space. Good thing there are white progressives here who can apologize to him to make themselves feel better.

In the presence of minorities, many white progressives feel a need to tell them "hey bro, I'm on your side. I'm not like those other whites". It's pathetic.

No more so than quoting 'It ain't over 'til it's over' means I'm living through the eyes of Yogi Berra. But carry on..............

The tea party was right, Obama spent all that money, none of it did anything to alleviate the misery of the leftist policies that caused the housing meltdown of 2008. The debt will be more than doubled by the end of Obama's reign, not one good thing has come from all that spending. America is bankrupt financially obviously, but morally as well.

When liberals try to blame the tea party for complaining about the disastrous situation we find ourselves in due to leftist policies, I can only laugh. The tea party was right all along. It is sad that political thought has been reduced to the state of today. Liberals preach that the debt means nothing, that the worst president in history was right to bankrupt the nation, and that the tea party patriots are not the true heroes that they in reality are, but instead racists for even criticizing a failed presidency, that was predictable from the start. It was predictable because Obama was pure marxist from the opening bell, and marxist policies always fail.

Liberals should ask themselves what good Obama has done. Ask it honestly, you will find that he has failed miserably.

Indeed. I am a seething cauldron of racial hatred and genocidal fury as indicated by a humourous quip by dad many years ago. Good catch, Sigmund.

The Tea Party was never a single organized entity, so they were never going to have a tangible metric for victory. They certainly did succeed in hamstringing Obama.

I keyword searched your short posting history and found 3 pages worth of posts that had the words "white", "redneck", "cracker", and other racial terms in them. One post where you even invited slave reparations. Looks like quite the complex. Good thing there are plenty of white progressives who would love to line up and apologize to assuage their own white guilt.

Then I suppose it's a good thing you weren't able to find out that my ex- is Jewish and that I spent time at yeshiva and on a kibbutz (socialist Jews, no less!) YIKES!

Doesn't surprise me at all. Many of them are "down with the struggle".
