Details are still coming out, but it looks like Disney is throwing in the towel. For those who don't know the backstory, the state of Florida through legislation created a business district for businesses in the Reedy Creek region of Florida and Disney had an effective majority control over the board that governs this district. This is where Disney World is location. Disney went on to attack a parental rights bill in Florida and then Florida passed new legislation to change the way the district is governed.

In response, Disney via the Reedy Creek board they controlled, passed a resolution claiming Disney had control over the land and local government forever, and that the state of Florida does not have the authority to regulate Florida land and businesses inside Reedy Creek. Basically, Disney and their supporters were making a stupid "sovereign citizen" arguments on steroids. This had no legal bearing whatsoever, but many people thought this was Disney outsmarting Florida's legislature. This obviously did not have the desired effect, so they began suing Florida over and over again to try to regain complete control of the local board that was previously controlling the business district.

Disney has been getting a lot of black eyes from all over in the public space and it looks like this problem was not one that they were ever going to win, as the courts have made clear. So in response, they have struck a deal and have publicly said their legal arguments are meritless and have dropped their lawsuits. Apparently crying the State has no authority over them because they choose not to be part of the state was funnier than any movie Disney has released since they went woke. Can't believe people actually thought they were going to win this...
