In North Korea 1950 -- 1953 over a million civilians died as a result of US bombing and scorched earth policy. In Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia over 600,000 civilians died as a result of US firepower. Would that qualify as acts of genocide?

No. This is an unfortunately rampantly common misconception. Genocide isn't about a number count, it's about intent. Was the intent of the U.S. to eradicate an ethnic group? Hardly.

Genocide is the intentional killing of large groups of people. But, in case anyone doesn't like my "opinion" or wants to just "agree to disagree", here's what the dictionary says:

    And wikipedia:

The key is the intent. Soviet and Chinese Communist mismanagement of resources results in the deaths of tens of millions of their own people, but despite what some may want to say, it wasn't genocide, because in those cases there was no intent to kill their own people. At least not in those cases.

And here, the case you discuss isn't genocide, either. Because you see it isn't just 'intent' to kill that qualifies killing as genocide, it's the kind of intent. We certainly did intend to kill enemy combatants, does that mean that we committed a genocide against the Wehrmacht in WW2? Hardly. The 'intent' in genocide is the intent to kill people not just who happen to be of a certain ethnic group (as is the case when we killed many German soldiers in ww2), but because of their ethnicity (as the Nazis killed Jews).

    tl;dr no this isn't genocide.

It was neither genocide nor war crimes. It was heroism of the US military, the second best military in the world after its IDF allies.

Iran now poses as great a threat to the world that the Viets and Koreans did. We need to get Iran asap.

I wouldn't say the IDF is greater than the US Army. They are both two powerful allies in different ways. The Israeli Air Force is probably the most superior in the world. That Air Force has more invested in it then some small countries, as they should. I love the Israeli Air Force and their capabilities. Also, Israeli Intelligence gathering might be the best in the world as well.

The US manpower and ground technology is the best in the world (along with Navy). In my opinion, of course. Our Air Force is also stellar.

I agree about Iran. Time to turn them into a sheet of glass if they refuse to stop building the bomb.

Definitely Stalin is responsible for about 3 million deaths -- execution, GULAG, deportations. USA is also responsible for deaths of millions of civilians -- both were democide rather then genocide.

Definitely. Also, in WWII and Korea, US has intentionally targeted civilians.

Absolutely...if you're a liberal. Otherwise it would be classified collateral damage ,which every war has.

Actually, at that time USA was a racist society -- thus it did not value the lives of people in Asia. Thus, such collateral damage was genocidal.

Uh.......no its not genocide. The reason so many of them died compared to US casualties isn't some big conspirace. They just sucked at warfare.
