Actually, food giants, big pharma, and the politicians they have working for them, care about the money from making and keeping these people sick.

They are human beings and are subject to the methods used to get them to habitually consume unhealthy products. They respond to triggers and receive instant reward the moment the salt, fat, or sugar hits the tongue.

I realize you are used to the typical partisan debate tactics, but put that aside for a moment and lets just look at some facts:

The vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths were those with existing illness.
The vast majority of illness in the US is caused by consuming the Standard American Diet.
This diet consists of mostly subsidized products you and I are forced to pay for.
Once symptoms show, pharma products are prescribed so that the patient may comfortably continue being a source of wealth for food giants.

Results: Food giants and big pharma enjoy record profits, politicians enjoy the backing from these companies, and those poor people end up with a low quality life and die prematurely.

Are you right to point your finger at Republicans and criticize them for placing power over humanity? Absolutely. If you are a Democrat, you are not pointing with clean hands.
