I don't believe so.I remember years ago reading a report { clinical white paper } on personalities. The thrust of the conclusion was that humans have their personalities established by the time they are 9 yrs.old.That would be the 4th grade. Not even middle school.Which may or may not explain a child prodigy. But don't be surprised when attending a 10 0r 20 year high school reunion. To find that people you knew fairly well in school are not that much different ... personality-wise.What causes them to laugh or cry or be taken seriously.Yes,jobs change and wives might change. Bosses change. But like one's Relatives, things pretty much remain constant. Like the sun rising in the East.Like Baloney tasting like Baloney. Therefore it is important and in some instances to not overly work at changing other's.Which one could blame on God,our creator. For constituting the human race with this obvious congenital flaw. The near irrefutable reality that Humans may not have the capacity to change, much,if at all.Past the 4th grade,of course. It's inherent to their individual constitution,is what. Have a Nice Day.
Therefore it's an Historic mistake for the principle of Incarceration. Because when the guilty go off to prison, there is little chance they will be rehabilitated.Since they cannot change their dishonest ways. If only honest people change. " An honest man's the noblest work of God. " -- Robert Burns
People do change. I was a liberal when young but eventually grew up and discovered the insanity that Utopian thinking is.
Excellent example.Which makes Churchill's statement all the more relevant. " If you are not a liberal at 25,you have no heart. If you are not a conservative at 35,you have no brain. " Or was it George Bernard Shaw,Edmund Burke or Victor Hugo. ?
This is mostly true. I have two children - both raised in the same home by their mother and and I. Both raised with love and discipline. They're grown adults now, and their two personalities are completely different. Incarceration probably doesn't change the underlying personality much, but it can and does give motivation to change behavior. You changed your political thought, but most likely, your personality is very much like it was when you were a kid. As we age we mature and gain experience, but the underlying personality remains pretty much the same.
Those that were bullied in school, OFTEN are FAR different, and MUCH MOAR confident, without the bully threatening physical harm. Which, ISSSSSSSSS the aim of the bully. Watch Trump. That is why he bullies. JUST like the child.
Some things remain fairly consistent but far more changes. What makes people laugh? Do you really laugh at the same jokes as when in high school? I sure don't. Do 40 year old women cry if they don't get a date for prom night? I think you would be hard pressed to define precisely what you mean by personality. But I can think of few examples from my life. I have family members who were selfish little shts when they were kids and they are still are now. But I know of examples of people who changed. Come to think of it, I was born a sex maniac! That has never changed but I did go ten years without sex for the sake of saving my marriage.
You're having a hard time distinguishing the difference between personality and emotion. One of the two evolves...
Yes,Donald Trump has a bully streak in his character. He showed it Big Time with candidate Ted Cruz. Many are unaware that Robin Williams was bullied in school.Because he was chubby. So using humor as a defense mechanism both can work and be a release valve. But like acting ... comics true character are not actually known. The only true test for that is in a panic situation or when one is truly down on their Luck. 4 th graders don't have to cope with that. Therefore it's not proven that one's true personality is set by age 9.But then one's use of the left or right hand is. One's overall temperament, also. Spoiled brats don't make for good Priests or Rabbi's.
One's personality is a direct reflection of one's emotions. How often and when one cries or laughs or becomes angry are emotions.Therein one's personality.
There is said to be 2 basic personality types. Type A Personality > Impatience and the need to overstrive and compete.Inappropriate expression of anger or frustration. Type B Personality > Not easily stressed and more carefree and happy go lucky.Less competitive and more fun-loving.
Somethings change some people change and stay on a cycle and never change but always on a change so change can be a revert or a next phase the same.
People can change, but they have to sincerely want to change. Some people, due to mental state, can’t change but mostly because they don’t see a reason to change despite numerous cues that they need to change. This could be related to low intelligence, but it could also be mental impairment.
Everyone changes, some more than others, those who change the most are people able to learn from their experiences. Those who are resistant to change are generally not as good at learning from their mistakes and frequently stuck in bad situations.
NO ... that is obviously NOT True. You are not well read or near completely Ignurn't of History. In point of fact,it is more the case that Humanity most often has been recorded as NOT Changing.Entire Millennium of unchanged roots and near dystopia. Most of the Middle Age was seen thru the lens of suffering, whether the Black Plague or The Inquisition. If mere change was adaptable then there would be no need for Psychiatrist, let alone movements like Dadaism or the Anti-war 60's Peace demonstrations. People may suffer the consequence of the times. Meaning ... It may not be prudent to espouse change when all is going well. Witch is where the bouncing ball is now being played.
There are exceptions to most rules in life. One that stands out irrefutably is when a guy gets married. The change takes place, very noticeably during the courting process. The change where a guy takes on some personality traits or aspects of the gal he's courting. It's sometimes so obvious as to be blatant.Even bothersome. I noticed it with virtually every buddy I had.Once they get married the friendship is forever doomed.Almost always on account the gal won't hear of it.Or for her beau remaining close friends with his buddy or buddies. It's the basis of more TV sitcoms and Hollywood comedies. This change is the most obvious and dramatic in a grown man's life.I'm not the opposite it true.Where a Gal becomes more like her beau. It's usually the guy becoming more like the gal. However there is a Psychological condition known as ; Stockholm Syndrome or Capture-bonding : where a guy commands such power over his gal, that she feels compelled to follow and do exactly as her Man demands.
Do you know John Galt ? People only change when who they are isn't working too good. Or that is some do.
People may change on a whim or as a fashion statement, like their hair or dress, even their politics but basically change is hard to come by.Used to be People changed because they had to. Whether a different school or principle or even their dress. Bill Clinton provided us a great lesson. He experimented with a test. He used a few inner city schools { Mostly Catholic as in Parish schools } and bussed-in mostly poor inner-city blacks. But they had to wear uniforms and Go to class { No excuse allowed for coming late to class } and The Principle used a bullhorn in the halls to make sure the kids weren't congregating and plotting against the school system. The results were dramatic. The Kids were now learning and even getting A's in their courses. All because of a simple change in Dress and a dedicated and stern Principle who demanded respect and to follow the rules. No Exceptions.
The point is to extend debate on my Thread. Citing a great example is also part of the point. Unless you one them fellar's whose only valid point is obsessing over pointy bras like in the 50's and of course preternaturally pointy tin foil hat theories.
I was extremely social in high school and college, 35-40 years ago. I reasonably popular and often the life of the party. Now I'm 56 and content to be usually by myself. I find most people to be very shallow and boring, interested only in their excercise routine and their next trip to Cancun. I've even yelled at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn.
Disagreed on "only". People obviously do react to their environment, but change can be internal also out of a desire to change. Another factor is illness of either mind or body.
