Do you Believe Joe Biden deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

So,I'm loving that everyone is actually doing some research---as I doubt seriously people are pulling these names off the top of their heads,who deserves the honor & who doesn't is in the eyes of the beholder ---so, with that being said,I actually had the wonderful experience to touch one of these metals & shake the hand of the recipient, Buzz Aldren,he came to Carson City to dedicate the opening of our planetarium at our Community College--his sense of pride in wearing the metal & his sense of pride in his accomplishment of being the 2nd man on the moon----It is a great feeling to be honored & unless the naysayers can walk a mile in all these recipients shoes---I say, work your life to maybe one day be recognized,I know I still have a loooong way to go------

 

As president, Obama can give it to anyone he wants. After all, it is named the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Joe Blow or Joe Biden, who really cares? I'm surprised he did give it to Lois Learner for using the IRS to influence an election.

 

Don't ask him to tell you his sad stories please! I think we've heard enough of those already!

Well, technically, Ash Carter gave Obama the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. I have no problem with Joe Biden getting the award. It's the President's choice, and he can award it as he wishes.

Of course he doesn't deserve it. What's he done? Nothing but draw a paycheck for the last gazillion years.

People refer to politicans as having "served". Served what? Their own bank accounts. Going to work and drawing a paycheck isn't serving anything but your own needs. Real service is a hardship. That's the basic meaning of the word.

More or less. When I looked at the list, it seems like Obama has handed more out to activists than any other category and he seems to have handed ou way more of these than other Presidents. Some of them I get. People like Ellen I do not. Giving them to politicians I also do not get, but IIRC, he isn't the only one to have done this.

Personally I couldn't care less about Biden getting the medal, but who here over the age of 40 hasn't survived " great personal tragedy", millions of people have and went on to become good upstanding citizens and stood for good.

 

It's a harmful gesture that marginalizes the award just as did Obama's Nobel Peace Prize.
