    Blazing Saddles is a great movie and is in fact anti-racist. However, I'm not sure that it would survive the cutting room floor today.

    It seemed edgy even for the times it was made in. Only Mel Brooks could have gotten away with it but it does seem to make fun of many different things. It was comedy for the sake of comedy.

    Actually Mel Brooks credits Richard Pryor as the only reason he was able to get away with it, particularly the use of racial epithets.

    The protections for free speech are objectively not as stringent in the UK as in the US. That's not a knock on the UK, that's just the way it is.

    Then why did that guy get arrested for a tweet simply saying a Muslim woman gave him a mealy mouthed reply?

    Blazing Saddles is shown all the time here in the States. I don't know about Mexico. Mel Brooks is a legend.
