Outside the world inhabited by the professional classes in a handful of major metropolitan areas, many Americans are leading their lives as if COVID is over.

The above is a quote from the current issue of The Atlantic magazine.

This is true where I live. Very few wear masks, social distancing is nonexistent.

    How about where you live?

I see more wearing masks now than I did a month ago.

I quit the madness 14 days after the implementation of 14 days to flatten the curve.

Not really. There are still Covid policies in place at businesses and people are still wearing masks, at least. Cases are also surging, apparently, among the unvaccinated, and the medical community is pleading with people to get vaccinated as hospitals fill up.

No, but I live as though I am unlikely to have to do much more than get a once or twice yearly booster shot for my own safety as the CDC recommends one. Most everything else that I do, I do because either my employer requires it, or as a curtesy because someone else is concerned about their safety. It's not some huge imposition on my life or freedom to put on a mask or stay a little further away while standing in a checkout line.

Not personally worried for me or mine at all about any of it. I know they will stay vaccinated as have I. The rest is all about my social responsibility to the welfare of the rest of the community.

This is true in Wisconsin. Outside of our major metro areas, hardly anyone wears a mask or acts as if COVID is even a thing worth giving any sort of mind to.

Same here, except the mask wearing numbers that I witness are either roughly the same (in big metro areas) or less than before (everywhere else).

I still wash hands after I visit public places like stores, etc, and some places still require masks. In Florida cases are rising again, but I won't worry if it's the new variant which is much milder than the killer delta variant. Some still choose to wear masks and for older people its probably a good idea. Social distancing seems to have become a habit for most people.

I think so. Masks are a personal option, spacing seems to be with us to stay but it isn't strictly observed. The only place I have been to that masks are mandatory have been healthcare facility. Got the booster at a pharmacy, no masks them or me. I think some of these things are with us to stay just like Covid is.

Sounds like you spend a lot of time in big metro areas.

This is a lie. See Gibraltar. See Israel. See Vermont. Vaccinated people are seeing cases just as unvaccinated people are seeing them. Meh.

Who, precisely?? "The medical community" is just a buzzword. Which reminds me, I should add it to the Lispy Leftist List of Linguistic Lunacy that I have made to keep track of such buzzwords. You can view that list here if you would like: https://politiplex.freeforums.net/thread/122/lispy-leftist-list-linguistic-lunacy

Additionally, you don't speak for other people; you can only speak for yourself.

... with the same jabs as "formulated" for the "original" COVID (and not for "Delta" and "Omicron" and whatever else)??

Hospitals are not full... If anything, they are understaffed due to unconstitutional and discriminatory vaccine mandates.

So you're on the ronacoaster for the whole ride?? Got it. Better keep getting them boosters to remain "fully vaccinated".

This is one of two areas where I have "given in"... I do wear a chin diaper at work (purposely below my nose) because "my employer" "requires it" (because the city/county governments require it). The other instance where I wear one for a short while is for medical appointments (dentist, eye doctor, etc). All other areas I simply refuse to wear one, plain and simple.

--- With regard to mandated invasive medical procedures (such as shoving a q-tip up my nose for "COVID testing" and COVID vaccinations), I absolutely will not comply even if "my employer" (it is actually the city/county/state governments doing the mandating) requires it. I will not work under medical tyranny conditions.

This makes zero sense... Doesn't THEIR mask work?? Doesn't THEIR vaccine work??

Yeah, but those things do absolutely nothing to stop or slow the spread of viruses. They are pointless to do. Additionally, if both people are healthy, then they can't spread viruses to each other anyway (as one cannot spread a virus that one doesn't have).

    This is just Marxist-speak.

I have been getting annual flu shots for decades to protect seniors that I work intimately with before this covid 19 first hit the headlines. Its not my fault that Trumplicans decided to politicize the exact same behavior, buttressed by the same exact motive to creae their culture war out of this same behavior.

I don't know whether others have had their shots or why they do not. I don't know why others aren't wearing masks.

You have no idea what 'tyranny' means if you think turning that swab in your nostril for 10 seconds once or twice a week or wearing a mask in workplace represents 'tyranny'. If you don't want to do those things for a paycheck, then don't get a paycheck from employers who require it. You also don't need to wear anything over your face to patronize a store. You can just stay out of the store.

Yes, why not? I'm vaccinated and I don't live in a Tyrannical state like Australia, North Korea, or California.

Ever since my family had covid in July 2020, I have lived like covid doesn't exist, with the only exception of being careful around my parents. I still have the antibodies and I accidentally spent 2 separate days with coworkers who tested positive later that day for covid with no ill effects.

3 shots of pfizer and still wear a mask anytime I'm indoors.

Other than that, yes i live like covid doesn't exist. Wearing a mask indoors in public has absolutely no impact on my life.

Almost never did.. I did enjoy the mandated vacation.. tho' I still came to the office when I felt I needed to, AND it did get one of the kids to move back to town, where he inhabits one of our rental units (well , not anymore, it is his now as I sold it to him) and I did like all the excuses the wuhflu provided. AND I considered many people wearing a mask certainly improved the landscape as not so many ugly people to see. And it is easy to classify idiots now so more than ever..
Tho' not something I'd promote, the libs did get to kill off lotsa old and feeble, which they continue to do by blocking the proven effective treatments of the biological weapon.. the wuhflu. Just love the disclaimer in read t the top of the page about censoring "misinformation" when just about everything said about covid has been misinformation.

The reason it is spreading is because both the masked and the vaccinated think Covid is over and go out and do whatever the hell they want, spreading the virus, while they blame the unmasked and the unvaccinated for the rise in cases.

Nope. The crap is still out there floating around. Im 63 and 30years of smoking resulted in COPD. Hi blood pressure. So im vaccinated with booster and I wear my mask in public places, sanitize often. If I was 30, 40, 50
I most likely wouldn’t take it so hard but I’m in the danger zone. Plus my job puts me in homes of strangers everyday, who knows what I might be exposed to?

Irrelevant. Flu shots are not COVID shots, and nobody is attempting to mandate flu shots nationwide atm as the Biden Regime's end goal is with COVID shots (yes, I realize he's targeting private employers with 100+ employees atm, but I damn well know that he wants to ultimately target everyone... this is just a divide and conquer way of getting there).

So you apply sunscreen to your own body so that I don't get sunburned?? Do you realize how asinine it is to think that a shot injected into yourself somehow protects someone else??

It's not my fault that Bidencrats decided to launch an all out assault on the freedom to make one's own medical decisions... "My body my choice", remember?? Or does that only misapply to murdering unborn children?

Precisely (unless they tell you why).

I know precisely what it means. Apparently YOU have no idea what tyranny means...

This is mandating an invasive medical procedure against one's will.
This is a violation of "my body my choice".
    This is medical tyranny.

While this is not invasive, it is still a violation of "my body my choice".

Just know that the very same women of whom you are standing beside when you defend their desire to murder their own children in the womb, you are simultaneously standing against them when you attack their desire to keep a mask off of their face and keep a swab and needle out of their bodies.

    It is tyranny.

Besides this being grossly illegal, the government mandating of employers to require it is not employers requiring it on their own accord.

    See above.

Tyranny loving Democrats are very close to causing a civil war because they can't just leave decent hard working conservatives alone and let them live their lives as they see fit... Nooooooo, they want to force their own Satanic depravity upon conservatives... THAT'S not going to sit well with many folks across these States.

I usually carry a mask in my pocket in case someone asks me to wear one on their property. No one has in several months. Other than that, covid might as well be over as far as my day-to-day goes.

I live in Florida. I don’t wear a mask, and everything is open. The only reminder I get of covid is when I see someone wearing a mask, which is quite rare.

Just getting really tired of the masked and the vaccinated spreading the virus and blaming the spread on the unmasked and the unvaccinated.
