Nope George Washington himself had slaves They were 2/3 of a person in a lot of states, but again that's not mentioned in the constitution, that was states laws, which rightfully were deemed unconstitutional by the 14th amendment and 15th amendment No. A lot has changed in 95 years.
that was my point, even if what the op said was 100% true... doesn't mean anything cause that is not what it means today.... it flew right over your head...
No where in any papers, writings or books of Sangers does she use the words human weeds. This quote is wrongly attributed to here and it's first instance is found in an anonymous flyer entitled "Facts About Planned Parenthood", distributed by anti-family activists, Sanger NEVER in her lifetime promoted abortion, in fact she was against it. Promotes her Eugenics ideology, nothing at all to do with abortion.
Sanger was a eugenicist who was racist against blacks. Here's the proof.
Even if that was true it still has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood today and you canNOT show that it does.
The Eugenic movement was popular in the 1920's, and many American leaders endorsed it. Sanger was not a racist, or she would not have tried to help black women learn about birth control to end their cycles of perpetual pregnancy. She is still praised by her work by prominent black leaders today.
early America was against blacks.. but I still support who we have become... despite who we once were.... early America was against Indians.. but I still support who we have become... despite who we once were.... America is the only country to have ever nuked people to win a war, but I still support us having nukes... despite what we once did who planned Parenthood is today is not what the op wants it to be.. heck, many on the right would support it, if it was .
Find me one verified Sanger quote where she uses the words "human weeds", please link to the actual text of her words . .which can be done as every single one of her books, letters and articles is in the public domain. I'll wait. - - - Updated - - - Get one thing straight Sam, I've researched Sanger quite extensively, and that quote in that picture is pure BS .. the quote you are showing actually first appeared in a pro-life propaganda leaflet .. Sanger never said or wrote those words.
Fugazi, in post 43 you have me quoted as saying that....the quote function in here is screwing everything up. Now, it's screwing up this post , can't they fix this??
maybe. but what about this?
she never denied her intentions was to eliminate the black race she just explained how to keep the word from getting out true or not
"""The minister’s work is also important, and also he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation, as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs (Sanger, 1939, December)."" I see that she means "we don't want people to mistakenly believe we want to exterminate the Negro population" But Anti-Choicers will use anything to make people think she did want to exterminate blacks.....which, they FAIL to point out, has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood today ...just like some of our founding fathers owned slaves doesn't mean that slavery is NOW acceptable....
She had no reason to deny it at the time, because no one then made such an asinine accusation. The meaning in context is clear.
Generalization without any real facts, and of course you do realize that there were many high profile people who supported the Nazi's to begin with don't you .. in fact even a future USA president did. Furthermore the whole Eugenics platform was being supported in USA law; The Immigration laws of 1924 ALREADY barred the same people as listed in that review so Sanger was just echoing and expanding the already current racist laws in force in the USA of that time, and this law was closely linked to the Eugenics majority of the Immigration Restriction League, with the passage of the Immigration Act of 1924, eugenicists for the first time played an important role in the Congressional debate as expert advisers on the threat of "inferior stock" from eastern and southern Europe. The new act, inspired by the eugenic belief in the racial superiority of "old stock" white Americans as members of the "Nordic race" (a form of white supremacy), strengthened the position of existing laws prohibiting race-mixing. Eugenic considerations also lay behind the adoption of incest laws in much of the U.S. and were used to justify many anti-miscegenation laws. Thus Sanger was echoing the already eugenic motivated immigration laws of 1924. http://history.state.gov/milestones/1921-1936/immigration-act
