I saw a clip of Bill Clinton speaking and laughed when he literally said "if I wasn't married to her I'd tell you what I really think." Why do I think the slur against women beginning with the letter "b" might apply? Bill Clinton looks old. Sounds old. Older than Sanders. He looks ill old. He re-enforces Hillary is old - as in politically old. Old politics. And, like Jeb Bush, seems she needs past presidents to come rescue her. He also speaks off the cuff, meaning going off script. This hurt Hillary in 08. It also brings up past sex scandals, which it seems young women don't care much for. Do you think Bill Clinton on the speaking campaign trail helps Hillary? (Sorry, I clicked to add a 4 response poll, but it didn't post.)
I never thought Bill or Hillary had much in the way of politics. They are technicians. But I don't think Bill hurts her on the trail.
Bill will help when speaking to those who like him. And not too much help when speaking to those who don't like him.
It depends on his audience. In those southern states, with rural or small towns you could not find any one better to connect and sell either ideas or candidates. Frankly, he did more good for Obama in those general election than Hillary! He has to be used judiciously and there has to be discipline in his message. He cannot go 'rogue'. Not sure if he will be more of a problem for Hillary against Trump. That is hard to predict.
He can barely talk his voice is so weak and seriously looks like AIDS to me but could just be a bum ticker I suppose. Either way he doesn't look long for this world.
I think for the Democratic nomination Bill may help in adding a point or two to Hillary's total among the middle aged and older groups. They remember him fondly mainly for the good shape of the economy. Everything else forgotten. But I do not think Bill helps at all among younger voters, say under 30 or so. Once past the nomination in the general, Bill is basically a wash. Perhaps helping in this or that group a bit and hurting Hillary in others.
