I understand that, I am well versed in that period of our nations history. Slavery was the primary reason for the war, an extremely small minority fought for the other side, specially if you don't consider the slave states that remained in the union. Most of those were pro slavery.

I understand states rights were the big issue, but the state rights that the southern states wanted to preserve/enhance were due to slavery/ and or cotton industry . I doubt that the confederacy would have fought a war in which hundreds of thousands died to the gold standard.

 

Agreed, no problem, up to the locals if they want it there. But please you have to understand that the Blacks in this country don't look upon people that fought to keep them in slavery as heros worthy of statues. As much as it is there right to erect the statue it is just as right for the Blacks or their compatriots to protest it.

They want a statue of Lenin- fine, I would not stop my dog from relieving himself on it but it is nothing that I would protest or sign a petition, doesn't bother me one way or another. But I thought it was wrong of us to invade Russia when we did.

Blaming rape victims for wearing revealing clothing is nowhere near the same as calling out a bunch of kids wearing the same hat and acting with a mob mentality.

 

Actually, we blame all males, white or otherwise and I think you mixed up "women who wear revealing clothes" with "people who wear MAGA hats".

I wouldn't have posted this if it was merely 'calling out', but instead it's death threats, calls for violence, and doxing. Not as bad as rape, but pretty freaking bad, so yeah, the comparison is valid.
