    Bizarre. Reality says otherwise.

What exactly did he mean "by a very special day?" The smoke is coming from Trump.

What do you think he meant by it? (Think hard.) How is this related in any way to my post??? Is it supposed to look like a refutation?

Reality doesn't count for much sometimes. If it doesn't match the agenda or fit in the meme handbook it is just slipped under the rug.

It's a blatant politicization of the release date. This is what's objectionable, not what you wrote in your post.

Name one medical source that is expecting to finish their trials by October

You insist on conflating guarded optimism with absurdness. I can't help.

Here you go...Something to be very happy about and EXACTLY as Trump has said.

    https://www.contagionlive.com/news/the-covid19-live-vaccine-tracker

    Pfizer to name one...
On August 20, Pfizer released this statement: “Assuming clinical success, Pfizer and BioNTech are on track to seek regulatory review of BNT162b2 as early as October 2020 and, if regulatory authorization or approval is obtained, currently plan to supply up to 100 million doses worldwide by the end of 2020 and approximately 1.3 billion doses by the end of 2021.” To read more about this news go here.

I of course meant "conflating guarded optimism with "assuredness."" My point was that a number of companies are hopeful of getting approval by October 2020, but none are expecting to.

hawgsalot posted some specifics if you are at all interested.

We're not even going to be seeing the next FDA meeting on reviewing any vaccine for approval until October 22nd, and even then so it takes several months before regulatory reviews are finalized (I think I heard 90 days is the minimum). The only shortcuts we'll be seeing on approving a vaccine according to officials is in manufacturing. Companies will be allowed to take their own risk in manufacturing their vaccine in mass numbers before their final trials are complete, but again that would mean the company is taking their own risk and trusting that their vaccine will pass all trials and regulatory standards

The point is we will not see a vaccine that is available to the public by October, at best we could see the number of people included in the human trials broadened, which is essentially what regulators encourage so they can collect more data before making any final approvals
