Trade would certainly continue. Currency, Defense, ideally that can be managed as a more loosely bound assembly of independent States. But the election of trump proves that the system has failed and has become too dangerous to be allowed to continue. The office of president has to go.

And I won't be a part of a country that elects trump. America died the day trump was elected.

It's not his second term. He can't come out in full dictator garb until then, and then he must if he wants to stay President beyond 2024, which he certainly does. This is also directly in keeping with Putin, who was very much less a dictator in his first term than he is now.

We're not at peace, the wars are just quiet. And the economy is just waiting for the shoe to drop.

The FBI investigated Trump when it got very good evidence that Trump was doing illegal things, that's what they're supposed to do. Obama was going to go public with this investigation but didn't want to make it appear that he was trying to influence the coming election. People who are being audited always claim it's "out of the blue" and they have no idea of what the IRS thinks they may have done. If people were being "entrapped" then weren't they doing something to be entrapped for?

    Quiet means peace.

The economy is always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

And why should Trump wait until his second term to become a dictator, if that is his design?

Because even his "base" might turn against him if he did it now. For one thing he has to have some sort of precipitating incident, a "Reichstag Fire" to put the populace behind him in his quest to overturn civil liberties.

Not exactly. Trump was framed. Obama's media came up with the collusion story and beat the drum about collusion. There will be people frog walked to jail. It's just a matter of time.

B-B-But it is NEVER wrong when a leftist president does it. I think that the Left is getting ready to make that an actual Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

If there are in fact 60,000 mental health professionals that signed the letter mentioned in the OP, then the most important take-away was that there are 60,000 mental health professionals that need to lose their licenses to practice in the mental health profession. (I read the letter and estimated that the number that signed the document was closer to 5,000 and of that 5,000, almost none of them have current licenses.) These people have completely lost sight of their professional canons and ethics and in doing so, are a menace to the public.

The ethical, moral, and professional lapses they have made:

Mental health professionals must not make a diagnosis about anyone unless they have had numerous personal interviews and thorough psychological and medical evaluations of the patient. The diagnosis must be made on a face to face basis.

Mental health professionals must not make the results of any psychological evaluation public. The health professionals can only release their conclusions to the patient, the responsible charge of the patient or persons the patient consent to with the exception of law enforcement officers in the case that the patient becomes a menace to themselves or others.

Of the list of 60,000 mental health professionals, I did look up those in Oregon who signed the letter, and of those, each and every one of them had lost their license due to malpractice. By signing this letter, they are in effect practicing psychology (badly, I might add) without a license. The Oregon state board is pursuing actions against these individuals but they are already owed civil penalties for previous actions. Good luck collecting from these deadbeats.

Using the guise of a psychological evaluation to push a political agenda is unethical.

So what if 60,000 psychologists have made a diagnosis of a man they most likely never met? This is an indictment on the 60,000. Each of these 60,000 are going to receive professional sanctions and they richly deserve them.

Taking this letter seriously shows me that there are individuals out there who have no clue how the field of psychology is supposed to work, and even less of an idea as to how the notion of professional ethics, responsibility, canons, and professionalism pertains to the field of psychology.

Discussion assumes you have conversation between people who have a rational grip on reality. They may have different ideas about what needs to be done or how to do it- but they don't propose things like knocking a hole in the boat to let the water out, because it's easier than bailing.

Too much of that going on right now and it IS nonsense- not debate, not discussion. Granted they may call it that as the asylum lounge or the convention of extreme people.
Hopefully, we are not at that stage- yet.

Brilliant, succinct, and to the point. Mirrored the post for what it was, in an alternate view....

Why should his "base" be more amenable to a dictatorship starting in the second term?

Any people, regardless of nation, that elect political elves to represent them deserve the consequences. Which happens very frequently in countries that have only two main political parties.

Yes, political diversity is hard to manage, but all real political action must be "difficult to manage". It calls for a diversity of opinion that needs a bit of time to coagulate around a group of like-minded politicians who decide to make of themselves a political party. And present themselves to the people/voters.

The Brexit Party is a prime example of that thought. (I don't particularly care for their political mindset, but I am amazed that they were able to translate it into an election success.)

That's called the "will of the people". Rightly or wrongly, that is the way politics should work. Not just the same two political parties (with the same personalities) "sharing the bounty" on and on and on ...

He's probably been watching CNN. The Deep State soft coup attempt tried to disenfranchise 63,000,000 Americans who voted for Trump.

I have a suspicion that Kushner might be going from a cushy job in the Whitehouse to a somewhat less cushy abode in the Big House,

His base have become much more forgiving than they used to be. That should continue and if he wins a 2nd term that will give the stamp of approveal to his misdeeds.

I could totally see Ivanka as the first female president but I don't think in 2020, maybe 2032. .
