on the flip side if they denied her that acting role because she was black cause they did not think a black person should play that role, how would that look? would it be racist?

Actually, I consider most Asian nations to be very racist nations. They not only cannot stand blacks, they hate each other as well.

    http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/08/news/companies/dove-apology-racist-ad/index.html

Here is the ad in its entirety. From a snapshot as given in the OP it LOOKS really messed up, but if you watch the entire ad you can see what they were doing and it actually isn't offensive at all. It's just a series of women of varying ethnicity taking their shirts off and transforming into the next one in line.

After seeing the video in its entirety I have changed my position. Internet ads display the first frame of the video as the cover photo of the ad. In this case a snapshot of the first few frames of this ad make it look like this ad is portraying a completely different message than it actually is once the video plays.

Yeah the offensiveness of this ad was completely unintentional. This was merely the result of the cover photo of an ad accidentally portraying the completely wrong message. It makes much more sense now after seeing the whole thing. When I first saw this story I thought to myself what in the hell? How could anybody think that would be a good idea...

In fact I'd be willing to guess that some random person created that picture in the OP out of the ad and spread it on the internet hoping that some news media would pick it up just to start crap.

So the actress complaining would be the only way this would be racist?
    That's ridiculous.

The supposed victim would be a good start.

This ad was obviously meant to be a light hearted poke at stereotypes of a bygone era.Too bad the actress is smarter than the self aggrandizing, faux outrage crowd which thinks blacks aren't smart enough to recognize their own victimization, and must speak out for them.

Actually, this may have been the perfect ad - stupid, tasteless and possibly racist..but ad execs could care less about that. They just want people seeing their ads..and LOTS more people saw this ad then they would have a normal Dove ad.

So all Dove has to do is pretend to go whacko with outrage and presto - they have an ad campaign that reaches an INCREDIBLE number of people for the money spent.

Of course, in this day and age of INSANE PC...this could backfire anyway.

Me? I use Dove soap and I thought the ad went too far. But I am not going to stop buying the soap because of it (though I might put it under my other groceries in my shopping cart for the next few weeks).

This ad is so blatantly obvious it would be offensive and garner the claims of racism makes one wonder if Dove did so on purpose for the PR
like they say negative press is better then no press at all

As a black woman, I feel like returning the bars of Dove that I bought before I saw this story. I will have to start using Tone now :).

Actually, the white woman turns into another woman of color later in the ad. It was meant to show that we're all one human race.

The woman who was actually in the ad said that if she thought she was going to be disparaged in that way, she wouldn't have done it, but says that the clip is taken out of context and the whole 30 second ad shows that the commercial was quite inclusive and diverse. I watched the longer ad and saw what she meant. Just goes to show you how context does matter.

The white woman becomes an Asian right after, so by this logic, dirty white women who use the product turn into cleaner Asians.

Of course, that wasn't the headline of this story. Blacks outraged, once again. I wonder how much the lawsuit will be?

I can't believe a group of people sat around and thought this was a good idea.
