I remember when most black folks married, and were very moral people. I then watched LBJs war on poverty destroy the black family here where I live. For it incentivised not marrying, because a woman with kids could get more money in welfare with each additional child, as long as she was single, that is. Now, I do not think the people who wrote the welfare policy ever thought this would destroy the black family, as they were trying to help those women who had no husbands. And yet this backfired, with the result of tearing down black families, and giving us generations of black kids with only a mother, and no father figure in the home, working, setting an example for the kids. I believe in helping poor people, but there has to be wisdom involved, or you end up destroying the black family and creating social problems that are prolific today within the black community. We thought, the dems thought, they were really helping black people, who indeed needed help, for I grew up observing just how poor most black people were, and the discrimination that was in place. But the welfare that was put into place was devoid of common sense, although some have accused the dems of structuring it the way they did in order to get and keep black votes since in the south they could not vote again. But the way this welfare was structured was not well thought out, if you really wanted to help people who needed the help. They should have never rewarded irresponsibility and non marriage. What in the hell were they thinking?

After seeing that kid scream himself to death it made me so paranoid about any drug which is not rational I'm sure, but since it was the 60s and lots of OD going on it may have saved my life, who knows? I know at concerts medical tents were full of OD patients. I went to a lot of concerts back then and my high was alcohol. Remember Boones Farm Strawberry Hill? lol. A little alcohol is also good for you.
Once the big pharma gets hold of pot it will not be pot anymore, imo. It will be whatever saves them a nickel a hector.

Plus the fact the hippy generation hated all morals and free sex was rampent. Kids didn't need fathers according to fems. Push men out of alot of good paying jobs so the mothers had to work to help support the family. Teach anti American hate fake history in our schools and show kids how to have sex out of every crevice in their body.
Out came Mothers Little helpers' valium.

They smoked pot and I'd get high riding in car with windows up. Sometimes they would take speed but that was seldom. Mostly just pot all had jobs so weekends were pot times.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with weed. In fact, it's very beneficial to patients who's bodies reject chemicals in other medications. It's a very natural way to make them feel comfortable.

Things like amphetamines are already legal. I'm not sure why, but I'll never take them.

I know a few alcoholics, but would never want alcohol banned, feel bad for people that have addictive personalities, but I also feel for people with nut allergies, but not gonna support the ban of the sale of nuts either

people can make their own choices

Well said. Agreed. People nowadays are smoking spices and other stupid crap because they can't get pot. The longer we wait to legalize it, the more crazy drugs come out of the woodwork

with things being illegal, friends and family are less likely to try to help a family or friend get help for fear that the system will just make matter even worse

not only that, prohibition funds gangs and terrorists.. which I do not support either of

The guy that looked in a mirror and wondered what would happen if I was looking in a mirror while going the speed of light.... Marijuana opens the mind

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."

Yep, the first time I caught a buzz from pot, it was like your experience, a "contact high". I recall speed being around too, black RJS, yellow RJS, A speckled pill with red and green dots in it, called Xmas trees. I once did one of these for I was driving from the college here that I attended after military service, in mississippi, to Eau Claire wisconsin, and a friend of mine said I could drive straight through if I took the pill he gave me, once I started to get tired and sleepy. And he was right about that. I drove all the way, without getting lodging over night as I generally did when traveling up there during Xmas break. Not only that, but once I arrived there, I could not go to sleep. I was wide away as a jay bird. So, I hit the bars in that college town, a street that had nothing but bars, , really cool bars, and found out it was harder to get intoxicated on brandy old fashion sweets, when you are also on speed. But the crash coming off that one it of speed was so bad, I never tried speed again. So a one time experience. But I understood why so many long haul truckers used speed at that time. For you cannot go to sleep at the wheel when on the stuff I took. And it made me very, very alert, wide awake.

I think that they worry about votes from the religious groups who won't accept decriminalisation.

plus some don't like that fact that many in the past were "make love, not war" types, and the pro-war crowd did not like that at all

That's not how I look at it.

They benefit from pot being illegal so we have to buy their drugs

They don't well maybe indirectly. Since they sell lots of methedone and subloxin 'spl'. Plus other drugs they sell to fix damage.
But they will make pot illegal to grow so they can GMO the heck out of it and sell it.

Is OxyContin a good alternative to grass? Different customers I'd have thought.

I had read somewhere that the price of Nalaxone (heroin antidote) was going through the roof.

I used to have a t shirt that said... Better living through modern chemistry. And one that read..." A friend with weed, is a friend indeed" lol

As I said in an earlier post, I smoked pot until I got married and had our first daughter on her way. Once I got old, I decided to try it again, to see if I would get some benefits and more quality in my old age. Which I did. And I remembered why I had enjoyed this plant when I was young. One thing it did for me long ago, was it mellowed me out, and I got along with others much better. I must have been rather high strung in my youth, and today would have sent a person to anger management. But catching a buzz really mellowed me out back then, and I was no longer such an ********* in general. It also allowed empathy to manifest which was an unknown emotion in my makeup back in those days. So, very beneficial for me, then, and now. I personally think this is one of the greatest gifts to our species and the most versatile plant that was ever created, given what hemp can be used for, besides catching a buzz or using it as a natural medicine for various conditions and illnesses. I just wish it were legal to grow it, for it is such a beautiful plant once it starts to put on the buds and you have removed all male plants so you get sinsemilla. But you can bet your arse that the state I live in, right in the middle of the bible belt south, will be the very last state to legalize it. As the cons who run this state wax poetic..." Cannabis is an evil weed. Because the devil sows the seed. For it stains your fingers, and burns you clothes. And makes a smokestack, outta your nose". Well, the seeded pot from the 60s would burn your clothes if you did not remove all of the seeds. And I ruined several new shirts from a smoldering seed falling out and onto my shirt, burning a hole in it. You don't see, or I don't see any seeded pot these days. So no need for the top of a shoe box to clean out the seeds. And yet some of the best pot I smoked in the late 60s and early 70s, had buds that were full of seeds. Panama Red. Columbian Gold, Puna buds from hawaii. I can't recall if Thai Stick had seeds or not. I think not, and if so, that would be the first sinse I smoked. But other than the Thai, sinse was not seen in this area until the late 70s or around 1980. Our war on pot in mexico and south america, where we sprayed poison on their crops, cut off most of the pot coming in from south of our border. No more Panama Red, or Columbian gold, nor Aculpuco Gold, but instead what was called Xmas Tree Sinse, due to its cedar smell and taste. This doubled the price, and the old columbian which sold for 40 bucks an oz, was increased to 80 bucks per oz because as the sellers said, there was no seed weight in this sinse. This was also the same time we started to see Indica.
