Its hoped to bring in more tax revenue but it seems there isn't any actual recent examples where this approach has actually worked.
In EVERY case the deficit has risen.

Care to explain that historic phenomenon?

I would spread the commendations. Part of this good economic news is in owing to the Obama admin. and previous Congress. Another part is in owing to the industriousness of the American people. Another part is in owing to the new Trump admin. and Congress. And last but not least, to God for his mercy towards America in spite of ourselves.

After 11 months in office, the Trump national debt has risen about 540 billion - from 19.947 trillion to 20.492 trillion. About half of that money went to disaster relief in Texas, Florida, Peurto Rico and California.

Comparing the Obama average of about 1.25 trillion debt growth per year to the 0.54 trillion under Trump is rather caustic

Trump has cut deficit growth by 50% and you're biatching - wow - A Trump hater scorning trump for saving money - will wonders never cease

Because in every case, the Democrats controlled the congress and increased spending - it's called crony capitalism

What does that have to do with increasing deficit spending during the Trump administration?

It increases the deficit by almost $2 trillion? Just a guess.
