Consider this.

A boomer had to work roughly 300 hours at a min wage job to pay for college.

A millennial will have to work roughly 4500 hours at a min wage job to pay for college.

 

She's not interested in fixing the problem. She's talked only about applying a band aid (the worst thing you can do to a festering wound). It's almost as though she doesn't care about all those kids who'll be in the same bind tomorrow, and only cares about appealing to voters today. Votes at the expense of the kids. Nice.

 

Not really. Kids who choose lucrative degrees can do both simultaneously. If they're working part time throughout college (and all kids should), and don't spend any of that money, they will have accrued enough for a down payment, or possibly to buy an investment property outright in a low cost area.

 

Exactly. Back then, average kids could actually study something useless, work as a waiter, and still pay off college debt. But since that's no longer the case (hasn't been for a couple of decades now), there's no way average kids can afford to take such risks today. Adapt or perish.

Unless you're suggesting we should turn back time, like those funny old Conservatives who want us to go back to 1950?

 

I'll take neither thank you very much. Let's pay off our national debt and let people keep more of their money.
