I am in the legal immigration system, and if you think Trump’s policies reflected respect for legal immigrant, then you bought into a load of BS. Trump drastically cut the number of legal visas issued each year. Foreign worker visas were slashed. Settled refugees were uprooted and sent back, and countries suffering from genocide like Burma were blocked. And when the fallout in Afghanistan started, many prominent conservative TV personalities said they didn’t want them coming here. No way in hell Maga respects legal immigration.

Trump’s policies separated children, lost track of families in custody, criminalized children, uprooted settled refugees, and ended all immigration from Burma which was in the throws of a genocidal humanitarian crisis. I saw no point in banning Nigeria, which was a long term ally of America, and saw many good people lose “their place in line” to become a naturalized citizen. His immigration policies have gotten people killed, and it’s a matter of record, but I guess foreign blood for America First is justifiable.

I have plenty of venom for Obama, but Trump’s policies and bans were far worse. Obama’s policies stayed at the border. Trump’s policies actually hit my community in the north. We have a large Burmese community here, and I have seen the Iranians effected as well. I could go in and on on a personal level. If you care about immigrants, it doesn’t show. All I see is virtue signaling.
