What is coming next is forced emission controls on falsified data like they Air Resource Board did in California. They are forcing a $100K retrofit on most trucks or new trucks. The end result... dramatic cost of living increase is coming on each and every product shipped by truck. Again... the Democrats did this on false data from a guy with a degree out of a diploma mill that is now shut down.
But NOT without additional cost. Fox News [so liberals can consider the source] says that 4 times more regulations have already been passed under obama than in Bush's 8 years. EACH regulation has a cost of administration that is ongoing, and EACH regulation has an ongoing cost of implementation. These are both TAXES operating under a cover name. And many regulations also have a fee that must be paid to the government. That is a straight up TAX. But finding a way around the regs also carries a cost. In the trucks for instance, the repair and restoration of old trucks is expensive too. All of that gets added into everything we, as individual consumers, buy.
I don't think that at all...they had a gun to their head, they tried to make the best of it. Like everything else regulated to death by our government....eventually it fails.
Kind of like the helmet law, baby seat requirement, or Bluetooth mandate: legislating that folks buy products they wouldn't otherwise purchase. Seems like this is the popular new way to tax folks without the usual burden of getting a "tax law" through congress, managing the process, or finding a way to funnel tax dollars back to the special interest group that supported you. Instead: just pass a law that they have to buy your special interest groups product.
Does anyone think that these extra costs to truckers will be passed on to the consumer when they buy the goods and services these trucks deliver??? So now on top of just plain old inflation, we'll have these costs.
