There are other ways to protest. I think Reid is showing them that with the fan base shooting down, ratings down, that maybe kneeling during the anthem probably isn't the best.

If the owners are against it (because of the perception that it alienates a portion of the fan base) certain players are going to have to avoid doing it so as not to sabotage their careers.

Hey, I didn't authorize these payments. Did you? It's sickening.

But your posts were misleading from your actual comment as if it were some brainwashing or propaganda. The military has ALWAYS sponsored these and always will.

Here's where we differ... I support Americans' right to protest what they feel is a wrong, especially ones wrongs that can be righted through government. It is integral to who we are as a people, and guaranteed by the first amendment. People have fought and died to give us that right. We're not free from the consequences of protests, but we are free to protest.

That being said, you're free to believe what you like.

Shining a spotlight on the ignorant and hateful reasons why they protest isn't the same as trying to stop them from protesting.

They have the freedom to spew their hate, in fact they have even more of a freedom to do so because of the mass political amd media efforts supporting them.

Along the lines of your words, there was no "wrongs to be righted" in the cases they based their protesting on.

These protesters were angry that criminals and thugs died as a result of their own actions and they erroneously and ignorantly and hatefully blamed cops and "White privilege" for that.

So when we sane persons highlight the stupidity of those protesters were not trying to stop them from protesting.

In fact we'd all be better of if those same people protested the criminal culture of violence that so many adopt and perpetuate.

But since they're just spewing their hate behind a poorly constructed and thinly veiled lie, well, they're going to be opposed by the voices of reason.

I support your right to speak your mind here, but I disagree with much of what you've said. I'm not going to take this thread off into the weeds. I grew up with my dad being a police detective captain. I support police. I also support those that have been mistreated in our justice system, and those that choose to call attention to the mistreatment.

They can protest on their own time, but when they're being paid to play football I don't have any problem with their 'bosses' penalizing them for that crap.

Utter garbage. The military paid teams for patriotism. Spent tax payer dollars for displays of patriotism.

Don't you see how this is absurd hypocrisy?

No, they paid for ceremonies. Much like we do at state fairs, concerts, and every other public event. If you're outraged, don't attend any major events.

The military pays for advertising to recruit soldiers. If it’s in the form of the National Anthem, so be it. Is that the purpose of the National Anthem? Ask the NFL? Whether or not the employees want to participate is between them and their employers. As employers and employees are both taking a black eye over this, they better get their act together.

The NFL wants government dollars and the employees don’t want to perform by following flag etiquette. The fans are sick of the drama and voting with their dollars. The NFL and it’s employees have decisions to make.
