    Trump's delusions.

"and our entire Country is angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed by it"

    A sneak attack on democracy

August 15, 2022 / Posted on Truth Social, Statements by Donald J. Trump

“America has never suffered this kind of ABUSE in Law Enforcement! For the FBI to RAID the home of the 45 President of the United States, or any President for that matter, is totally unheard of and unthinkable. This Break In was a sneak attack on democracy (our Republic!), and was both unannounced and done at a time when the President was not even present. It was for political, not legal reasons, and our entire Country is angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed by it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

If FBI agents carried classified documents there ... FBI agents should be charged, since they weren't entitled to handle those document.

Anyway, this case is really interesting.
From a constitutional perspective, I can make a comparison with Italian Constitution.
What's not written in the Constitution about the President ... it becomes a Presidential matter.
And what the President does ... it becomes a precedent.

I can remind when Napolitano accepted to be elected President for a second mandate.
Nowhere in the Italian Constitution there is a mention of a second mandate for the President. But there isn't a prohibition.
Napolitano did it. And Mattarella [there present President] did it as well.

Personally I'm grateful to Mattarella: he's a great president.
But I suspect that the member of the Constitutional Assembly didn't imagine this.

The Constitution begins with the words "WE THE PEOPLE".
It's like the Italian Constitution: the Sovereignty belongs to the People, not to an unknown "State".

    Anyway, I understand the point.
A President enters a office for 4 or 8 year. The individuals go back to his [or her] previous job, while the office remains there.
But I see a problem in this approach: are administration, NSA, FBI, Supreme Court and military hierarchies more important than the President?
The high ranks of those organizations remain there ... in my opinion this is wrong.

But this is your system. When I will be governor of Ohio:D I will understand more about your system [!!!!].

Yes, posting that is an obscenity! Shame on you, Polycy! You're howling with the wolfs against US institutions and the rule of law.

And this guy pretends he supports the idea that Trump should be punished if he is found guilty. Sheer Hypocrisy!

Let me put it this way. Under freedom of information I can get a copy of any documents relating to me. A copy. The information is mine but the document itself remains property of the government. I do not though have absolute right to view any or even all documents and although you can make a claim that titular head of a government should have a right to view any document they like it remains that - a right to view not possess

What this actually argues, and quite strongly is that maybe high offices should have selection criteria which includes security clearances and review of taxes to identify if there are any “vested interests”

I mean Trump was denied a licence to own a casino in Sydney Australia because of his known mafia ties. And it isn’t as if Sydney has a stellar reputation :p

In the current matter, we have a U.S. citizen who holds no political office, apparently being exposed as possessing top secret and classified government documents for no legitimate reason.

There are several questions that need to be answered before culpability can be determined.

Well, fortunately for us at Politicalforum.com, this site isn't ruled or moderated to a smothering extent by the hyperliberal-Left's propaganda spinners and the "Ministers of Truth" that typically infest other forums where political issues are supposed to be discussed freely. And, for the last few years at least, nearly every one of the Moderators here are truly 'fair and balanced'.

My own viewpoint? I never put people on "Ignore". I believe in completely free, uncensored speech... it's the American way... or, at least it used to be....

Where did you come up with that one, and how does it impact a U.S. citizen with no privileged access to top secret and classified documents being exposed as being in possession of them?

I agree on every point made, with the exception of the last. Some people are just too toxic to entertain. I don't even want them in my "world".

I'm very pleased with the fairness of the Moderation team here. As a former Administrator and Owner (elsewhere) of a discussion board I know from experience. But enough of this " sucking up". It won't benefit me. ;)

The paranoia concerning the ubiquitous lefty pixies that fester in some folks' noggins is amusing, though.

I still love the Trump fanatics blaming the goon attack on the Capitol on "Whispering Ray, the Man Who Controls Weak Minds."

In the current matter, let's first demand all the relevant facts concerning a private citizen's being in possession of government documents, and the security classification of those documents.

A magistrate is a judge. They have authority to sign search warrants, so I'm not seeing your pretend point here. Your claim about a motion being successful if a pipe dream, ad is your "argument" about the SCOTUS doing anything to help Trump--unless you think that the justices are beholden to the Orange POS. That you think that the SCOTUS is corrupt on issues like this is silly and misguided.

The only argument you've made that's remotely in the realm of reason is one juror ignoring the evidence. The feds can simply retry the Orange Scumbag in that event.

It's sort of buried, but it's in this link

    SNIP
Bolton, who served as Trump’s third national security adviser over 17 months, said he had never heard of the standing order that Trump’s office claimed to have in place. It is, he said, “almost certainly a lie.”

“I was never briefed on any such order, procedure, policy when I came in,” Bolton said, adding he had never been told of it while he was working there and had never heard of such a thing after. “If he were to say something like that, you would have to memorialize that, so that people would know it existed,” he said.

Take out the word "almost" and I'm on board with the Walrus on this one...

I guess it's good Iran missed here??

According to Trump's aides then all classified documents seized from MaL will be dated and stamped
    "Declassified".:roflol:

"Finally, his aides claimed that he had a “standing order” to declassify documents that left the Oval Office for his residence and that some of the material was protected by attorney-client and executive privilege".

Yup, golfing nukes with tom Barrack right into Saudi hands. Barrack got additional billions along with Steve "I rob mortgage holders blind" Mnuchin from the Kingdom.

Dunno, but it was dogshit.... I got it from the library and didn't make it past page 50.

He's clearly an intelligent man, but he's as big a gasbag as his former boss... His arms must be 20 feet long after all the self back-patting...

If we are going to ban books in this country, this is where I would start...

Well, yeah, because he didn't genuflect to der Boss man....

I couldn't even GET to those parts, because the BS support of his own foreign policy "triumphs" in 2017/2018 were insufferably questionable...
