That is because most of them are not French.

Actually, the US is capable of conducting such an operation on it's own. However, over the last several decades we have increasingly relied on "multinational forces" mostly for political reasons.

When somebody like Iran tries to say "Oh, look at this, the US is beating up on a helpless country", it carries a lot less weight when it is actually a multinational force from many nations.

Plus ther eis hardware which few other countries have. For example, how many Bombers does England have? They have nothing even close to the B-52, B-1 or B-2 bombers, so rely on the US for most of those functions.

I don't even think the US is economically capable of doing Libya while Afghanistan, Iran and other operations. Having to do everything from Carriers, having to fly bombers from the US. You said yourself that the US couldn't have done Iraq without allies in the region to put it's forces in. The problem with using multinational forces is only the British, French and maybe Germans have any real war fight ability by themselves, even then the British people didn't even want to be in Iraq so the political will wasn't their from the UK in Basra, my current MP was a governor in southern Iraq for a time, he was nearly killed compound came under attack.

I just made this same point to someone on Youtube about the US being the only country to have things like the A-10, B-52, B-2 and the ability to launch Tomahawk cruise missiiles from a surface ship rather than having to use submarines.

I support any sort of cooperation between Europeans, be it military or otherwise. I haven't fully read the article in the OP, but I will. I just wanted to say that I am happy to live in a time of relative peace in the EU and hope our great great grand children will keep it going. If this is off topic, I apologise.

Yea, peace, as long as you ignore what happened in former Yugoslavia.

So the EU only cares about the EU, and not Europe itself. I see.

So you take a comment from an anonymous poster as representative of what the EU says. I see.

Actually, I do not take it seriously at all.

However, that is a mindset that I have seen all to often from Europeans. That if it does not involve the EU, it is not really Europe.

Many times I have seen Europeans tout "We have not had any wars since 1945". Convienent, as long as you ignore the Greek Civil War, the Corfu Channel incidents, the Soviet invasions of Czechslovokia and Hungary and Poland, the war in Cyprus, and many other incidents.

When somebody says something like that, I really know to not take them seriously, because they have a very limited knowledge of history and only want to accept things as they want to see them.

I do not know where you got that from. Paris said that there had been relative peace in the EU and you came in with something about the former Yugoslavia and I pointed out that it was not in the EU.
