I stated my reservations in regards to this alleged attack, for like many people, the story had a smell about it, a smell of someone making up stories. What was his motivation, IF it turns out that he just pull this out of his arse? Attention? An attempt to color trump supporters as KKK, neonazis? Not like that has not been the playbook of MSM since the get-go.

So, the only two people cameras caught were two of his friends, Nigerians?

So, if it turns out this Smollet dude just lied like hell, to create a stir, will he be punished? Will charges be placed against him? I doubt it. After all, chicago is democratic.

At least we got to see how great the confirmation bias is in the left leaning MSM and how other lefties in entertainment wear their bias on their sleeves. Not like this wasn't already self evident though. ha ha

 

Man, did Smollett f*ck up. It's bad enough he punked the police but to do it in such a public manner is begging to get not only the book but the entire library thrown at you.

Everyone had "reservations", some of us will admit this and a few will let it be known. My reservation was over the "this is MAGA country" bit, that didn't seem likely, I thought Smollet could have gotten beaten up by racist homophobes, but doubted they'd be out at 2AM in the subzero looking for trouble in a well-known predominantly black and gay neighborhood wearing MAGA caps, so I had my doubts and expressed them. As the story developed, I thought keeping the noose around his neck seemed suspicious, the reluctance to provide phone information that would confirm his call to his manager who overheard the exclamation also seemed strange. Right away I found my doubts decried, apparently I was part of the problem, my doubts dismissed as from that "MAGA country". I thought the lack of video was strange, but this is plausible, even in well-covered places. The belated discovery of a bottle of hot sauce that smelled like bleach seemed quite suspicious to me. The first time I saw a picture of the two Nigerians I figured this was some online joke, that was incredible! As it emerged one was his trainer and the other an extra on the show, well by then I wasn't even suspicious any more, that their place was searched and the evidence found dissipated all doubts. All the while I'm noting these developments as I'm confronted by the critical left denouncing my doubts and attributing to me the same racist homophobia it was claimed motivated the attack.

Not "IF", Smollet was already known to be rabidly anti-Trump, he regularly posted rants against Trump online, it was part of his public persona, a feature in his public appearances, this was his "brand". Some say Smollet could claim (whether it is true or not) that as an openly gay black who had actually endured racist and homophobic discrimination (even if not as alleged in this instance), that he just wanted to "start a conversation", to use his celebrity to draw national attention to this problem. The problem is real, there are racist homophobes out there, but it does seem Smollet is more 'aware' of this than others, maybe it really isn't such a national problem?

Apparently so, and their appearance is grainy, not well illuminated. The video was good enough it was reported Smollet did recognize them, he didn't recognize them as his two friends, just as his assailants (maybe it was the clothes they were wearing). When the police told him the names of the two, Smollet told them he wouldn't sign a complaint against them, acknowledged he knew them.

He did lie, we aren't going to get any sudden new information that exonerates him, his motive is plain, and whether he gets punished is purely political.

Yes, there's that silver lining, but it is also true this only applies to people who are not lefties, in the MSM or entertainment, and we already knew there was a lot of bias there, for them this hoax probably only adds to their hatred of that "MAGA country", they'll just try harder.

Man accused of pulling gun on victim wearing MAGA hat

A Tennessee man is in jail after being accused of pulling a gun on a Sam's Club customer Saturday.

According to the police report, officers were called to Sam's Club due to a person with a gun.

According to the alleged victim Terry Pierce, a man pulled a gun on him because he was wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat.

"I have as much right to wear that hat and support my country and my president as he has not to," said Pierce.

The police report confirms that the suspect, identified as James Phillips, admitted to flipping off Pierce and Pierce's wife because of their hats.

Pierce tells 13 News that he was shopping with his wife when Phillips "Pulled a .40 caliber out and stuck it in my face, backed up and said, 'It's a good day for you to die.'"

 

Streeterville is 73% White/4% Black, and in terms of the demographics of Chicago would NOT be (even remotely) considered "predominantly gay"

Don't know about "Streeterville", perhaps its demographics are as you describe, I was going by that NYPost description of the vicinity posted just above ("half the people are gay and the other half black").

No doubt there must be some residents there (like Smollet) who are both black and gay, so there must be a few who are neither, and this means there could be a couple of locals who were white and not gay, whether they'd be racist homophobes seems unlikely at this location.

 

As a whole, probably. As a smaller 'hood in the city, probably not. Purely anecdotal, but the demographics for the city I live in says it's 70% white but I live in the section that's 70% Hispanic and 20% Black.

 

So this "attack" is turning out to be another hoax? How many are we up to now?
