You didn't really think extremism spoke in soft voices, did you?

George Bush Jr. claimed that WMD's in Irak was a fact but I don't recall him screaming it. And yet I would call him an extremist. But all in all, I would say that Americans are "people who scream their opinions as being facts".

Your fundamental problem is clear. You think criticizing the government is "anti-American" and pointing to the out-dated amendments are "anti-Constitutional ideologies". Stop! Ask yourself if you understand the principles of Democracy.

This is part and parcel of a Two-Party System. Does it suck? Oh yeah!

There's nothing wrong in that. But don't make the big mistake, OK? I see them all of the time. They come over here to Europe and think they know more about us than we know about ourselves. In short, they know nothing. So, whatever and wherever you chose, try keeping your eyes & ears open but your mouth shut. Don't do as others criticizing people for holding their fork in their left hand. Observe the whole meal before you judge.

Your problems originate from within ..... why the national BS about it withstanding the crap? You are doing unto yourself.

To be frank they confuse me more than anything. You call yourself a fascist but you don't seem authoritarian to me at all. You're also not an ethno-nationalist. You just have this weird fascination with ant colonies.

Are you sure you're not a monarchist/imperialist of some sort? What's even your problem with democracy?

Correct. Fighting tyranny, regardless if it is left or right winged, is what our nation is all about and how it came to be.

I know the Barry Goldwater quote and agree with it: Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

However, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about those who believe "It's my way or the highway". People who are so extreme in their narrow beliefs, be it socialism, fascism, gay marriage, abortion, gun control, etc that there is no compromise with them, not discussion. If you don't agree with them, then you are their enemy. That is my point in the OP.

No. My concern is that a relatively few extremists are taking control of the nation. It's bad enough when it's a forum since there are other forums, but we've only got one USA.

You are partially correct. However, consider this tactic which some low-lifes employ; 5 LW extremists constantly attack you, nag you, stalk you across the forum derailing threads bring up comments you made in other threads. This would occur daily. At some point you call one of them a stalker or a troll and all five report you for breaking the rules. You are penalized with an infraction. Yes, you broke the rules and maybe banned. When you return, it's the same thing over and over again. While you came here for a little fun and discussion, the extremists consider driving away or silencing anyone disagrees with them to be a "win". Of course, they've won nothing, you'd just move to another forum or find another hobby. Regardless, that's how they think and how they work. I've seen it before on other forums where members were driven away. On two, it was me.

Thank you for exemplifying my point.

Another one is "You're either with us or against us".

I think you have tied yourself into a pretzel believing that there is an "extremist" plot. The main reason the US is going downhill is because your people are being bamboozled into believing there is only one way. Saying you've "only got one USA" means that you are not willing to improve your country ... and improvement can only come with change.

Agreed. An old idea seems to be in vogue these days: Demonize your opponents so that you can easily silence or kill them.

I still abide by an oath that states “defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic…”. Those enemies are often extremists because they are the ones attacking the Constitution, usually the 2nd Amendment on one side and the 14th Amendment on the other. Both happily attack the 1st Amendment when it's convenient.

Putting someone in ignore would not work in the scenario Max just provided. Putting someone on ignore does not prevent them from quoting you or reporting you. All it does is prevent you from seeing what they are posting. That’s it, that’s all it does. It doesn’t solve the issue if one becomes a target of others.

This is why I believe the ignore feature is useless on most forums.

Pretty sure the internet has fooled many a smart person into erroneously believing the person on the other end of the line isn't a cretin. I blame spoolchecker.

Agreed. However, some people epitomize my point: If someone disagrees with a political extremist, they will be attacked as an enemy until silenced or banned from multiple reports from like-minded political extremists.

LOL. Just because a person can spell doesn't mean they are smart.

I don't intentionally irritate people. I just speak my mind and be has factually correct as possible. That, alone, is enough to send the extremist political nutjobs into a frenzy.

What? I don't think you really understand. The problem the OP has lies not with his antagonists. His problem is with accepting the opinion of those who disagree with him. Being right or being wrong has absolutely nothing to do with it. I can go into detail if you like.

I really don't know what you mean by "extreme". So your OP doesn't really communicate well.

Don't side-step the issue. You asked me .....

I have answered your question but you don't "get it". Let me spell it out for you: I DO TAKE MY OWN ADVICE.

In the scenario Max provided it wasn't a disagreement he had a problem with. He's been fine with others that have a difference of opinion, at least in the threads I've seen him in since I've been here. It was him being reported multiple times and followed that is the key issue of this thread and the scenario that he provided. Ignore does not fix those issues.

EDIT: also, I've yet to see him not accept the opinions of others. Disagree? Absolutely. Its human nature and we all do it. However, him disagreeing does not mean he doesn't accept someone else's opinion... IF that is where you are going.

if you follow the rules you will probably not be banned? your last sentence above could be a violation, for example. if you get banned, that is your own doing.
