You said he lied about being an EMT, but you can't explain why that has any bearing on the case.

We all know they're only using it because their pedo/abuser/burglar got what they deserved and hate Kyle for sticking up for himself. It's a sad little straw, but they keep grasping for anything they can to demonize someone they wanted to die, just for helping his community.

Sorry late in getting back. To clarify the facts for you. Until very recently what I said in my previous post was absolutely correct. The Darwin facility was only used for inbound passengers (who do have the choice of deciding to enter the country (and hence have put up with two weeks of quarantine) or not. That all changed when COVID finally reached the isolated settlements in the Northern Territory where the incident your so concerned about occurred and where, as of this date the first death from COVID has been recorded, the person concerned being an elderly aboriginal woman from one of isolated (there all isolated) aboriginal communities I referred to in my previous post.

Now here are the key points. Almost without exception these communities don't have hotel accommodation. Indeed the closest you get to any potential isolation facility will these communities themselves are the local community clinic/out patient service. And you cant use them for isolation without effectively shutting them down. Now there are hotels in regional towns but there are often hundreds of miles separating these hotels from the communities people wish to travel between.

Next you need to grasp the sheer scale of the problem the NT government faces. The entire territory only has a population of around 250,000 people living in an area more than twice the size of Texas! Many of the population are aboriginal and many of those suffering from chronic health conditions that make them particularly susceptible to COVID. And there are only 5 public hospitals in the entire Territory! (Aircraft have to be used for the transfer of virtually all seriously ill patients.)

Even with Federal assistance including additional nursing staff they simply don't have a capacity to run multiple quarantine facilitates in region areas. So in this case they used the one center they do have to try and prevent three teenagers who could have been exposed to COVID from traveling to a community that didn't have it. And as I understand all three have tested positive and if they haven't already been sent of their way soon will be.

OK then, given the above how terrible does the decision to detain the kids seem now given your almost certainly just one phone call and a quick car trip away from all the medical assistance you could possibly hope for?
