http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2014/2 NCDC says February 2014 was the 21st warmest February on record. If the scary-sounding "January was the 4th warmest ever!!!!!" got its own thread, I figured poor ol' docile 21st place February deserved one too.
Interestingly NOAA lists 23 of the all time US state high temperature record as having been set in the 1930s with only three being set within the last decade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._state_temperature_extremes Makes you wonder what all the hype is really about doesn't it ?
Indeed. To me that strongly supports the skeptic argument that nightly minimums have gotten higher by cities trapping heat but daily maximums aren't really getting any higher... The only real argument I've heard from warmists is that "well the scientists are smart enough to take that into account" - but that's just faith that ignores the empirical evidence. - - - Updated - - - Red herring. The question for me is not "is the Earth getting colder" but "is it still getting warmer" or at least "is it getting warmer fast enough to worry about"? Consecutive months of above-average temperatures are mostly irrelevant if all of those months are collecting in the same range.
