Florida Approves Bill Allowing Classroom Teachers To Be Armed

They are weapons of death and I am uncomfortable with them. Teaching is a professional and you will find that most women are not comfortable caring a gun. Telling a young person to become a teacher but that she or he will need a gun in the classroom is a great deterrent for a wonderful profession

 

I don't think anyone is talking about forcing teachers to get trained and carry a firearm. It's my understanding that this is about allowing teachers to get trained and carry.

 

That's because you were trained to believe that guns are scary and dangerous. I was the same way. Guns are inanimate objects.
Teachers who want to get trained and carry should not be prevented from doing so because you are uncomfortable around them.
We need to get people beyond this irrational fear of objects that can do nothing on their own. People that think it's weird to carry a pistol on your hip are the problem.

The cities are not "controlled by Democrats" just because the city council and mayor are Democrats.

Are you capable of looking at all the causes of the problem, including city government but also including the influence of state and federal government? I doubt it. You have a world view and I don't think you're open to looking at anything that doesn't endorse that view.

A city government shares power and responsibility with the state and federal government. You're way to anxious to assess blame on people you don't like.

 

The communists have taken over the school system, just as they did the democrat party, the majority of the media, unions, school system, etc. They have lowered the standards in schools to help every kid get thru with their socialist agenda in mind. The left promote broken families, abortion, drug use, promiscuity, lack of religion, hatred for cops, whites, anyone that disagrees. Schools used to teach skills to help kids get a job in the real world or continued education. Now they teach being a victim while bullying people into the one way of thinking. They used to teach questioning things to cause discussions, now it is to disallow any discussion and think of every single thing in a political manner. The left ruin everything they touch and it is by design.

 

A different matter from your condemnation of teachers who have no wish to carry weapons in the classroom.

No one is telling them they need to carry. Those who carry anyway are allowed in they choose. Not knowing which teachers are carrying is a great deterrent to would-be murderers.

Most teachers are motivated by learning, knowledge & the sharing of both. Only a few are mentally & psychologically prepared or equipped to cope with armed killers. Fewer still, are trained for that. A smarter answer would be to hire professional security guards to work at the schools, & let the teachers be teachers.

At this point, it seems to me the best minimal response would be hiring professional security guards for each school & have them man a metal detector archway that everyone must pass thru to assure no guns are ever taken into or onto school grounds. It would be similar to airport security, but perhaps on a simpler basis.

 

Because I know what kind of personality I have & I'm familiar with the teaching environment. Neither I nor my working environment would tolerate such a thing. I'd quit teaching first.

 

Because the current level of collateral damage being experienced when teachers are not armed is regarded as being acceptable, correct? It is more acceptable for only the murderer to be the one that is actually armed?

 

Then such is ultimately your decision. But do not seek to make it for others.

As opposed to educators being murdered while trying to shield students with their bodies?

 

What does comfort have to do with anything? Are you comfortable knowing that you will fail to properly prepare your students for the real world? Are you comfortable working in the profession marked by constant failure, with so many higher grade students in the united states being unable to even read?

With the constant wall-to-wall coverage of school shootings and everyday violence, many are likely aware that they will need to be armed at one point, but simply do not wish to admit to such a fact.

 

And likely kill some of the students, and get sued for every penny. What an idiotic statement.
