Many big corporations around the world are buying up agricultural land to turn into tree plantations for the farming and selling of carbon credits on the market.

Some are also buying up good food producing land for bio-fuels as being an alternative to fossil fuel energy.

Now you dont have to be a rocket scientist here, will this affect the food supplies of the world?

I have always thought that the idea of the United Nations - New World Order was to re-distribute the wealth from the richer countries like Australia to the third world.

Now i'm not so sure about this because in the third world they are driving the indigenous farmers of their agricultural lands and turning them into carbon farming tree plantions or for the use of bio-fuels.

Now i get it they do want to distribute the worlds wealth to the third world countries but there will be no people there to give it to because they would have all died from hunger, so they may as well bank it themselves then.

Carbon tax - Carbon Credits may actually kill two birds with one stone, ensure we are all in finacial slavery and reduce the worlds population at the same time.

I can'r believe our government would be a party to such a scheme!

This is hapening all over the world.

Does this situation really surprise you D&D?

These scummy pollies always cry out they are helping the Australian workers or want to help the Australian workers, but then they allow Gina Rinehart to bring over 1700 foreigner so she can pay them the award wage.

These scummy pollies say they are allowing this because there “might” be a shortage is a specific skill, but then these scum-bag pollies are closing down and dismantling all the TAFE colleges throughout Australia through lack of State & Federal funding.

When young Australians and retrenched workers have “no where” to upgrade their skills or learn new skills to fill gaps in industries, is Australia going to be known as the “fly in - fly out” capital of the world for foreign workers?

Australia does not need to import foreign workers, all we need to do is stop squandering money by giving it away to strangers in foreign aid, and start spending that money on upgrading the work skills of the Australian people.

Instead of these mongrel self-serving politicians giving away $500million dollars of tax payer to Indonesia for them to build schools to help their children, why don’t they for once in their miserable live think about helping the children of Australia, and investing that money into hiring more TAFE teachers, and starting specific curriculum’s targeting the skills shortage in these businesses and industries that need employee’s.

These scum-bag pollies, give away $billion every year in free aid to strangers, and yet our children, our young people, and retrenched employees are losing the facilities and the ability to even upgrade their skills to move into another job, or job’s where there is a shortage of skilled workers.

What makes me angry, is that these foreigners get $billions in free aid, but Facilities and staff to educate and up skill Australians get minimum funding of a few $million “if” they get any funding at all, because the same scum-bag pollies cry they don’t have the money.

If Australian don’t wake up really soon and start pulling their heads out of the sand; one day they will realise too late, the only thing they have, is a sunburnt arse.

I must of missed something here. Has Gina said she how much she is paying these workers ?

I might be wrong but I think the average award wage for the mining industry is around $30 to $40 per hour. So if she is paying the award I can't see how she is any better off financially. Mine companies rarely pay any more than they have to. That went out the window when ALP got into power and short shifted Work Choices. Many miners in my area lost around $10,000 to $20,000 per year when Labor re took power.

The only advantage to the mining industry for employing foreigners is that they will have a workforce ready to hit the ground running, they would only have to carry out safety inductions, but not have to fully train workers.

Don't get me wrong I don't think this is a good situation at all. But as you have said, "are you surprised", we have sold everything else why not our jobs ?

The troll queen reckons the 457’s will be paid the award wage, but I wouldn’t mind betting there will be some financial “catch” favouring Gina, besides just having workers ready to work.

457’s are paid no superannuation, long service, parental leave - financial “catch” favouring Gina. LOL LOL

How can the “Aussies” compete with the above? LOL LOL LOL

I believe the restaurant and café’ industry is now also putting pressure on dullard to allow them to import these chap worker over employing Australian workers - undoubtedly this silly troll will agree.

Has the opposition said anything about stopping this?

No they wont comment just yet. The smart move is to let this play out. Gillard and co. the great union supporters have abbetted this little scenario.

You are right in that mining hourly rate of pay isn`t too crash hot at all, and most mine workers lost out badly when work choices was scrapped. Under work choices, a contract was signed between an employer and an employee, outlining the terms and conditions of employment, the award wage had to be paid or exceeded.

the hourly rate of pay differs on what particular job you do and how far up the leadership chain you sit. Like any corporation. What differs to normal jobs is the shift hours. Most people work 8 hours a day, in the mines they usually work 12 hr shifts on a 5 days on 4 days off, or like some I know, 7 on 7 off. So even though the average hourly pay is around $30 to $50 per hour the shifts are long and family life is very much under stress. Don't know too many miners that don't have or had relationship issues. Very much be careful what you wish for. Money is great but overall lifestyle is (*)(*)(*)(*)house.

I'm not really opposed to this, but there needs to be a longer term plan for reallocating skilled workers from the South East to the West and North. I think work needs to be done to make the mining lifestyle more attractive, rather than just throwing money at wages or bringing in foreign workers.

Ziggy if $150,000 isn't attractive enough I don't know what would be. When the culture of fly in fly out come into being that is where the trouble started. Workers would be away from their families for a week and then return, have a couple of days rest and try and reintegrate into family life before heading off again. After a while the whole family unit loses touch and then the inevitable happens....split !

When they live in the local communities the worker (usually Dad ) is home at least once a day, so therefore not losing contact with Mum and the kids and what is going on in their lives. Still tough but that's why you are paid so highly.....a kind of compensation.

When the Chinese get the ball rolling on their mining investments here they will fly them in direct to the mine and pay them offshore. This would mean that they would be able to circumvent australias wage policies. Dangerous time to have a weak government.

If Australian's really wouldn't move if the working conditions were better, then I don't see any reason not to get foreign workers. I'll have to take your word for it on the offshore payments, but the Hancock Group is Australian and I think those problems would exist regardless of this legislation and need to be tackled either way.

No great surprise that you are in favour of foreign workers getting jobs and money of Australian workers.

I’m personally not against this either anymore, as I think these dumb-arse Australians need to hit “rock bottom” before they will wake-up to what’s happening like other people do in other countries.

457’s Don’t have to be paid superannuation, long service, or parental leave, so just how are Australia workers ever going to be able to compete with foreign workers regardless of the conditions.

The troll and Gina saying many Australians will not more to these areas is a “CON” so Gina doesn’t have to pay the 457’s the same entitlements as “Aussie” workers, and toll is allowing this because Gina has agreed to ease up on the negative mining tax advertisement.

If the sheep let them get away with this, then they get what they deserve…

This is the “pilot scheme” for the Chinese. Once their massive mining operations start, they won’t be interested in supporting crappy little Australian communities; they will directly fly their workers in & out at 14 day intervals.

Why invest money in the permanent infrastructure of a crappy little town that will fold up and blow away after the mine has expired!!

What is going to keep that towns economy going after the mining money is gone - LOL LOL

Even better, why spend “ANY” money in Australia anyway, when you can take all your wages back home to support your own family.

    Ah, dumb-arse Aussies - I love’em.

Since you're not actually Australian culldav, and you apparently have a hatred for white Australians, as well as apparently everyone else in the world who doesn't conform to your perverse world view, who really cares what you think?

Australian's can get temporary working visas in other countries. If we don't have workers willing to move west or north for these big projects, despite being offered huge sums of money, I see no reason not to get foreign workers in, provided they are paid well and have good working conditions. And I don't see any reason for them to permanently migrate here just because we have labour shortages for specific projects.

I doing think its a case of workers not willing to move to these remote areas as it is primarily fly in fly out. It the cost of both time and money in training these individuals. Gina will not be bringing in boofheads they will bee trained individuals with years of experience.

Culldav is right in one respect. China will be watching keenly to see how this unfolds. This silly government is paying back its SRT debt to Gina and BHP for their willing vote of confidence. What it doesn't realise it is setting a legal precedent for china to work with.

    Money is not everything !

I don’t hate Australians, I just put the majority of Australians into the same psychology as “addicts” whereby they have to hit “rock bottom” before they can be helped.

For the Australian people to let politicians outsource their jobs to foreign workers on such a large scale without them lifting a finger to stop it, just screams in the ears of anyone watching this event unfold, as being one of the most stupid things the people of this country have ever done.

This whole circus stinks of just another childish politicians bribe gone bad - you stop your negative advertisements on the mining tax, and we will allow you access to cheap imported labour.

Stop sounding like a mindless autonotom. You are being feed a pack of propagand media lies, because it has nothing to do with Australian workers not wanting to move to mining areas to take these jobs. Its all about 457 imported workers not having to be paid superannuation, long service, and parental leave - verses the Australian workers.

There was a story on TV a few weeks a go about Aussies moving up to these mining sites to get jobs, but when they arrive, there is suddenly NO JOBS available for them, and they are now reduced to living in tents and caravan parks.

Gina and the other mining companies employing 457 workers will save them tens of $millions over hiring and educating Australian workers to do the same job.

Why pay an Australian worker superannuation, long service, parental leave, when you don’t have to pay a 457 the same? Under those circumstances, who do you think is going to get the job; the Aussies or the 457?

These people are in the business to make money, and they don’t care over who’s back they climb to get it - FFS, wake up and smell the roses!!

What "story on TV"? The mining industry employs over 110k Australians, we've had a shortage of workers for awhile, so long as the foreign workers will be paid the same as Australians(and obviously that includes superannuation), it doesn't bother me. Since they're temporary workers, why on earth would they get long service leave? Temporary Australian workers wouldn't get long service leave either. Parental leave is paid by the government, not by employers, and I doubt anyone in the mining industry would qualify for it anyway.
