Sounds like its time to pay the military more so they don't need food stamps.

Which tells me they are underpaid. Obama doesn't have a problem raising the minimum wage for others in government. How about making sure that our soldiers and their families are well taken cared of? Or is Obama only concerned with certain government workers?

Blow it our your backside. Obamanomics is to blame. The obstructionist is from Searchlight Nevada.

I'd be curious of the differences of families who live in on-base housing and those who live off-post.

I don't think libs expected the food stamp president to cut a deal with the Repubs to cut food stamps.

But that's what happened and for some libs it was so shocking that it sent them into denial.

    says who, the liar?

except that for years he's been saying that in general, he's willing to compromise on many issues

the food stamp issue illustrates that

0:48 - "Simply put, it will take a balanced approach, shared sacrifice, and a willingness to make unpopular choices on all our parts. That means spending less on domestic programs. It means spending less on defense programs. It means reforming programs like Medicare to reduce costs and strengthen the program for future generations. And it means taking on the tax code, and cutting out certain tax breaks and deductions for the wealthiest Americans.

Now, some of these things don’t make folks in my party too happy. And I wouldn’t agree to some of these cuts if we were in a better fiscal situation, but we’re not. That’s why I’m willing to compromise. I’m willing to do what it takes to solve this problem, even if it’s not politically popular. And I expect leaders in Congress to show that same willingness to compromise."

"The truth is, you can’t solve our deficit without cutting spending. But you also can’t solve it without asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share – or without taking on loopholes that give special interests and big corporations tax breaks that middle-class Americans don’t get.

It’s pretty simple. I don’t think oil companies should keep getting special tax breaks when they’re making tens of billions in profits. I don’t think hedge fund managers should pay taxes at a lower rate than their secretaries. I don’t think it’s fair to ask nothing of someone like me when the average family has seen their income decline over the past decade – and when many of you are just trying to stretch every dollar as far it it’ll go.

We shouldn’t put the burden of deficit reduction on the backs of folks who’ve already borne the brunt of the recession. It’s not reasonable and it’s not right. If we’re going to ask seniors, or students, or middle-class Americans to sacrifice, then we have to ask corporations and the wealthiest Americans to share in that sacrifice. We have to ask everyone to play their part. Because we are all part of the same country. We are all in this together."

If the military would fire its thousands of pompous, pretty, parade-field generals and give the money to to its enlisted families, there would be no need for food stamps in the military. :salute:

We all pay for it. All of us. Even those who receive government money rather than pay in, since the amounts that aren't funded by taxation directly are funded by money printing, which of course leads to inflation (which I'm told is just wonderful for some inexplicable reason).

The GOP is the party of the middle class. The rich and the poor support the democrats. The GOP is the true party of middle class (non union) working America.

Bleeding heart libs have wasted trillions trying to eliminate poverty in America.

And the more libs spend the the longer the line at the welfare office becomes.

The solution is to raise the pay of active duty soldiers serving our country.

And take the money out of food stamps that currently go to welfare bums who are not serving in the military.

Simply calling the other guy ignorant is not much of an argument from you.

I think it is libs who have been lied to by the nanny state.

Certainly the ones who refused to face the fact that Obama signed the farm bill that reduced food stamps are a good example.

Then there are those lib in denial who think the multi trillion dollar war on poverty has been a success.

Your side does not know or does not want to know that you hurt the poor more than help them by training them to depend on government handouts to survive.

Just pay those serving wages equal to their dedication and risk to the nations defense, less R&D and a few less advanced weapons for better pay. And you could draw in maybe some better people for STEM related jobs with pre-college prep in High School or some college educations. If a man or woman is serving we can at least see the family is fed, provided benefits and so forth.
