Advisors need to approve your first several posts just to make sure that you are not a spammer, a troll, or a dirty, dirty communist. God! Communists are so dirty! The smell! I am dying! The pain! (Head Explodes). I hope this message has been helpful, Mr. Tator.
At the bottom of the forum table on the main page is a link that says (I think) "View Forum Leaders." This link will take you to a page that displays the staff members, categorized by level. There will be circles next to each username. If this circle is filled in green, this user is online. If the circle is blue/purple that means that either they are offline or they don't want their online status to be seen.
Welcome Robert. Go to your User CP in the top blue bar above. This is where you can upload an avatar, create a signature and many other options. When you have posted a few times (up to 10 posts) your posts will be approved pending moderation. Just keep posting. Welcome to P.F. We hope you like it here!
Hello, spiritualized , and welcome. Click on any members name, including your own, for their details and communication routes. You can access your own profile and shape it to suit.
I have made two new threads one as a intro (I am new as of today) and another in a regular section both said that they will have to be approved, I too looked in the FAQ and could not find anything saying how long the threads will be held (how would one know if they were deleted, mine were so bland I am sure that isn't the case, but simply wondering). I would hope that all threads and posts are not reviewed/held no matter how long has been a member in good standing. Anyway thanks in advance. I am wondering if this hold applies to threads and posts/replies or just threads. I should know after I post this eh? RA
No need to answer (my post above), I have posted five or six posts and the last one wasn't held, thanks for a fine site. RA
Your first posts have to be approved by one of the staff before they are visible. This is just so that we can weed out the spammers before they manage to get any posts on to the forums.
Just curious but when does my "probation period" end for posting?? I notice a mod has to approve my posts. Is that because I'm new or is it like that for everyone?? EDIT: NVM, I just answered my own question when this post went up right away
I appreciate that Mods filter posts intitially - However, part of the fun of being part of a forum is quite clearly engaging in whatever convo's are ongoing at the time - I think (and I may just be overestimating) but I think I've been sitting here waiting for four hours now for all but one of my posts to appear...I appreciate like I say, some kind of delay while they are checked - but four hours? I'm going to bed...either that or I go agree with cenydd about the joys of custard just to get my post count up and liberated... cenydd - I love the stuff.
Sorry about that. The delay is purely a matter of how many staff are on line, and how much work we have to do at the time! Your posts have now been approved. I may need some custard after all this work, though!
is there a view new posts button so I can find out whats been posted on a broad spectrum of topics without going through each subforum? since I last arrived?
A friend at work told me about Political Forum. I joined because I want to participate in the discussion. I am a Democrat who voted for John McCain.
What are credits for? If you posted on a thread and someone else replies to your post, is there any sort of notification telling you that? Thanks EDIT: Also, under everyone's name, there is something like "observer" (which I think is noobs) or "Guru" (which I think means super experienced). What do they really mean and how do they change?
You get credits everytime you make a post. Each forum gives you a certain number of credits. You can use them to play the quizzes. (check the top of the page, you'll see the link) If you want to subscribe to a thread, you can do that when you post. Before you click 'send' scroll down and click 'subscribe' - you can check your UserCP to see if anyone has replied in that thread after you. The names under our screennames change based on the number of posts you have. I am not sure when they change, but you need about 25 posts for the title to change to 'Observer'.
