For Republican bashing at its best, tune in to MSNBC

There was a time, many years ago, when I would enjoy watching Fox News channel. But during the Trump administration they went way the heck off course. All of those myriad rogue news channel that are available these days -- I recommend that folks steer clear, because they only want to lead you up some primrose path to delusion and folly. I'll stick with mainstream media news sources: ABC, CBS, NBC and my absolute favorite: MSNBC. Their "Morning Joe" is utterly fabulous but I don't mean to give short shrift to their other hosts and commentators, who are nearly all just top of the line.There's Nicole Wallace, Ari Melber, Ali Velshi, Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow, Reverend Al Sharpton and plenty more brilliant anchor people. And the regular contributors at MSNBC are also a vast and diverse and highly illuminating panel. I'll mention Michael Steele, a former lieutenant governor and RNC chairman; Admiral James Stavridis, who is loaded with fine bonafides including being a former Supreme NATO Commander for Europe, Frank Figliuzzi, a former assistant director at the FBI. Ugh, I could go on and on but it's arduous, as the list seems unending and is genuinely star-studded.

I was afraid to watch the news this morning because it was going to be all about that horrible school shooting in Uvalde Texas. But MSNBC made it worthwhile, let me assure you.

 

Wait so if your reasoning for watching one news channel over another is based on your enjoyment of “Republican bashing”, but you used to enjoy watching FOX, then logic would lead us to conclude that Fox used to Republican bash. I wouldn’t mind hearing you expound on that line of thought.

 

As a whole, all of the news channels are biased waste of time garbage. They appeal to whomever's confirmation bias they appease

 

No, my only aim in choice of news source is to get the basic unfettered truth. Republican bashing is not the end but only the result -- it only came into play once Trumpism took over that party lock stock and barrel. I suppose it's been brewing for longer than that - your basic mindless obstructionism, dirty dealings, slimy tactics, gun-violence-touting, hypocrisy-spouting and all things born of desperation. The GOP is doomed and they know it. We are witnessing its death throes as we speak.

 

Melber is especially fair minded in his approach to reporting the news. Hayes is probably the most intellectual though Maddow is a Rhodes scholar. Wallace is very articulate seeing as she is a former GOP spokesperson. It will be interesting to see how MSNBC shuffles the line-up when Maddow is gone entirely.

 

So FOX before 2016 was the unfettered truth. And 2016-present mainstream news is the unfettered truth

Therefore FoX before 2016 and mainstream news after 2016 both being unfettered truth, must therefore be saying the same thing.

Don't be silly. The operative word in "news" is "new". What was new then is old now. How could they be "saying the same thing"???

 

The GOP is hardly doomed..... People are sick of this rampant inflation and stupid high gas and they're not buying the Democratic excuses.

The best excuse is the unabashed truth, which is that inflation/high fuel costs are currently worldwide, due to several factors - most notably Covid-19, Putin's aggressions and corporate price gouging. The Fed will do what it can to ameliorate. In any case, Biden is not the problem.

As for voting Republican, they do so in large numbers, without blinking, in the Mountain West. They do so for only one reason. They do so because they know that GOP is the party that will let them keep their guns. In the Cowboy State (Wyoming) and thereabouts, they confuse gun-toting with masculinity. And that is one reason why sociologists refer to the Mountain West as "The Suicide Belt". More young white males shoot themselves dead in those regions than anywhere else. There was a really excellent article in WaPo the other day about it (I would provide a link but they have a pay wall blocking access). If it weren't for the foolishly constituted US Senate and the dad-blamed filibuster (derived from the term for pirate: free-booter), then America could be great. Alas and alack!

Before 2016 Fox gave equal time to facts and obvious lies. They treated them equally and gave them more or less equal time. Even though real journalists are not supposed to report lies. But after 2016, facts were discarded. To the point that their serious journalists had to resign.

Now they give equal time to just plain lies and outright conspiracy theories. They are pretty fair and balanced between the two, though.

Cause I’ve been a member here since like 08 and precisely zero times I’ve heard Democrats say Fox is fair and balanced. Zero. Your assessment simply does not match history, this forum or even the larger media world.

 

Of course they can. I was saying many things years ago I’m saying now. You think old Fox said the same thing as new mainstream media is today and both are unfettered truth. What I’m saying is no they don’t, Fox has always disagreed vehemently with things mainstream media was and is saying.
