Actually what's fair is everyone paying the exact same dollar amount. If a wealthy person pays $1,000,000.00 in federal income tax and someone in the working class pays $3,000.00 the wealthy person is the one who matters the most.

Most European countries with taxpayer funded health care, education etc taxation is far more regressive, not more progressive than in US.
