Adults using violence against children just perpetuates a cycle of violence.

 

It is all right to look at things that way but children need to learn that life also hurts. I do think a spanking is a rare treat dished out under rare circumstances.

Ask them ''whose fault is that?'' when they complain they have nothing to wear.

 

I think anyone who beats children is a sick f*** who should be jailed.

I got spanked as a child when I bleeped up. Not very often, but a good spanking on the butt sends a message that negative actions have negative consequences. I grew up just fine. I don't view it as traumatic. I view it as helpful. The lack of consequences these days are very problematic. Kids are taking so much longer to realize that they don't get a $60,000/year job just because they exist. "Everyone deserves a trophy," is 100% the wrong message.

 

They will just give you the finger, turn and walk out the door wearing old ratty clothes. I have seen this story before with gutless parents trying to reign in their rebellious kids. The kids have them wrapped around their fingers and end up feeling entitled the rest of their lives because they were raised as pampered babies.

Not saying your method doesn't work, but it doesn't work about as often as it works. There is no true method that works with all kids. In some circumstances, tough love is required as those types of kids will never adhere to taking away a cell phone.

 

And then change the wifi password and confiscate their phone.

 

Reminds me of a story my deputy head teacher at high school used to tell.
A couple of years prior to me going there they still had a policy of corporal punishment.
When the deputy head took her position at the school she was asked by the headmaster what her thoughts on caning were.
She was against it but realised that arguments over the morals of hitting children might not work so she told him she thought it was a little kinky and perverted.
No one was ever caned again.

 

I find psyops can be very effective.
In primary school the principal drilled holes in a paddle he left hanging on the wall in his office. He said the holes increase the speed of his swing. He never had to use it and we learned something about aerodynamics at an early age.
In high school you needed to have a hall pass during class to be outside a classroom. The shop used a 3 foot long wrench as the hall pass. Amazingly nobody needed to use the bathroom during shop.

 

And of course mother always made the threat "Wait until your father gets home. He'll fix you mister!" "NO MOM! I SAW HIM FIX THE PIGS! NOT THAT!"
