tell you what, vote for the same old thing, then when you get stuck with the same old thing, wonder why things remain the same, and ask yourself who's stupid now.

exactly, but whats important is who those third party leans more in favor of. Ralph Nader leaned more towards democrats, but he even labeled himself an independent to avoid confusion, though it didn't help.

Gary Johnson however, makes it very clear he's a republican economic conservative, we need him in every state.

And as it appears, he's getting alot of republicans on his side, this is glorious.

In a dream world we can only dream about having the two finalists be gary johnson vs ron paul in a square off between them for office of the presidency.

Technically I would say that brand of thinking is more of a result of first past the post voting instead of a problem in the thinking itself. First past the post pretty much always results in 2 major parties and tactical voting. But, maybe it's trivial whether the system or the psychological effects of it are more important when it comes to being a problem.

Gary Johnson criticizes Republican economic conservatism. So your point is moot. Another example of Americans not paying attention to what "economic conservatives" and "economic liberals" actually do when in power. Get past the rhetoric and the policies all lead in the same direction.

Apparently not. They nominated Mitt Romney, the most moderate of the entire group. And they did the same thing last time with John McCain.

You should vote for whoever you want as long as you understand the practical reality that all you're ultimately doing by voting third party is re-electing Obama. If you are okay with this, then you've made the right decision with your vote.

Exactly. A vote for third party is a vote for Barack Obama. Might not work out that way in all elections... but it does in this one.

As long as you're OK with 4 more years of Obama, go ahead and vote your conscience.

(anybody else notice the majority of mods seen to be pro-Gary Johnson? Someone should do a study.) ;)

BTW, playing by today's PC rules, if not supporting Obama nor Romney, does that make a Johnson supporter an "anti-Mormon Racist?"

goes to show what a crappy candidate the republicans put out.

Very comforting, vote for one smelly piece of crap so the more smelly piece of crap won't win.

You cant get much 'cleaner' than a tea-totaler Mormon, or much 'stinkier' than a crooked Chicago politician...

I have to say that I'm torn. I agree that Romney is the only one who can beat Obama, and I also agree that Romney would be better in some regards. However, after experiencing "W" I'm not so sure that I can vote for Romney. Because of "W" I've lost a great deal of respect for the GOP as well as because of my disdain for McCain. You can call them "Mavoricks" if you wish, but these left leaning Republicans make me want to spew, and I blame them for Obama being in ther right now.

I really don't see Romney bringing down spending to any great degree, nor do I think he and Obama differ much on their views of the necessity of the Nanny State, nor do I see him changing the foriegn policy to any great degree. They are just different versions of the same flavor.

As a result, I hope I have the resolve to vote for that other party as I cast my wasted vote. Of course, the GOP is counting on my disdain for Obama to cast it for Romney. Whatever.

Dont lose hope! The Tea Party, who are all about fiscal responsibility and smaller Govt, are playing behind the scenes as they didnt have a good Repub candidate to run in the primary. But the House is expected to stay Repub with a still strong Tea Party presence, the Senate will go Repub on Romney's coat tails if he is elected, and both houses of Congress will keep Romney on the fiscal straight & narrow..BYW, if YOU vote for Obama or Johnson, YOU will still be advancing the progressive 'social' agenda! YOU really have no choice..

The Tea Party is about fantasy and the brain-dead "cut everything except MY handout" thinking that got us here.

As soon as it was revealed that the Tea Party favors keeping Social Security, Medicare, and our "strong" military, I realized they are nothing more than the same old nonsense.

What's your point? What I said was true in 2010, and is true now. The Tea Party doesn't want smaller government. They're phonies.
