No I really did. It was the last sentence of my post. Odd as it may seem I really don’t keep a tally of all govt spending. I really do have other hobbies.

You’re right…the history of govt spending isn’t a hobby of mine. Guilty as charged.
But at least I’m not gullible to believe a TRILLION dollars was spent with none of it being accounted for. :):):p:D:rolleyes:

Clearly, but yet you seem to think you're up to a challenge ;)

Well it might have been a good idea back then but that's all I could come up with for now.

It's a hard problem. It's not the kind of problem that any president has been successful at solving.

My own view is to note that more than 2/3 of our oil consumption is for transportation.

As electric cars come in (which is happening today), there will be more price competition. And, competition is what gives good consumer prices.

Electricity is cheaper, and gas companies can't afford to simply lose out on price competition.

Plus, by using less oil we'll have less to worry about in terms of supply.

    In other words:

More electric vehicles likely means better gas prices!

Sure it would. We still aren’t at our peak outputs. And to claim we can’t get there is absurd because we are the largest producer.

    That's not the issue.

The issue is whether new production would be significant in comparison to the TOTAL WORLD production.

Besides that, it hasn't been that long since oil was so cheap that oil companies were going out of business and losing money for simply have oil.

What YOU think could happen is that these companies will borrow large amounts of money to invest in new holes in the ground trying to produce so much oil that the price of oil goes DOWN.

Free market capitalism says that is ridiculous.

You can't turn the petroleum industry on and off like a light switch.

Biden doesn't control the price of gas nor does he control the refineries or the production of oil.

    Nope.

That was a time when oil was so cheap that companies were losing money simply by owning oil. For a while, it cost more to store than the oil was worth.

So, Trump worked hard to decrease supply so it would cost more, thus saving US oil companies that hadn't yet gone belly up.
