Papadopoulos sensed something was wrong when the money was given to him as a retainer, so he flew to Greece and gave it to his attorney. The lawyer is still holding on to it for legal reasons. When the FBI detained him for the money, they put shackles on him as if he was a terrorist.

Seems they responded to his arrival convinced that he had the ten grand, which is the maximum anyone can bring into the country. But despite it being in Europe with his lawyer they cuffed him anyway.

More likely a series, given the convoluted plot and the lengthy cast of characters.

I'm sure it was, suspect they hoped to have him perp-walked from JFK on CNN: "breaking news; Trump's foreign policy advisor arrested in money-laundering scheme..."

I don't think it was money laundering. Sounds like they wanted to present him as a drug dealer - so they put him in shackles. I mean even if he was a drug dealer, which he wasn't, you wouldn't put him in shackles - unless it was a photo op for CNN.

His crime; that he volunteered for the Trump campaign, which means he was easy bait and deserved a set up - or at least to them. They would all have a good laugh over it; Clinton, Maddow and the Australian high commissioner no less. That an innocent man's life was destroyed was inconsequential, I mean they've done worse and he was of no importance. Besides, he supported Trump didn't he?

I have not yet read the GP book. People who have mention a very interesting detail.
Very important people were approaching GP before it was pubicly known he was to work on the Trump campaign, maybe even before GP knew he would work on the Trump campaign? Maybe they should have waited a couple weeks?

So, someone in the Trump campaign leaked this inside info to someone who set all the intelligence agencies to seduce/spy on GP.

The GP story reminded me of the intro to the TV show The Americans. The commie spy Elizabeth hits on a DOJ employee in a bar to get info to capture a high level Russian defector. My favorite show of all time so far, on Amazon Prime.

Also, The Good Wife had maybe three shows dealing with FISA courts and NSA spies. Funny. One was 'Parallel Construction B*tches."

    Mark Steyn? Come on now.

This a patently false pro-Trump effort.

    Nah.

Why a drug dealer? That doesn't make any sense.

I could see it being called a Russian payoff.

This thread belongs in the Conspiracy forum IMO!

Given that the BLOTUS was the PRIME MOVER behind the Birther Conspiracy it is only to be expected that he would be the center of a CONSPIRACY himself.

Like all conspiracies this one has the usual ratio of one part of out of context reality to a million plus parts of bovine excrement speculation.

The FACTS about GP are in the court documents.

The Conspiracy crap is all over this thread and all of the others like it.

    Wrong!

George was an unpaid intern at the Hudson Institute from 2011 to 2015, (a neo con think tank), and later worked as a research assistance to a senior fellow. He said he mentioned to them that he was thinking of working for Trump even before Trump became a candidate. This is when the set up started so they could destroy Trump for wanting better relations with Russia..

As for the 10,000 retainer, I believe they refused to take it back so he went to Athens and gave it to his lawyer. The FBI didn't know this though, and thought he had the money on him.

You might be right, I didn't think of that. The evil and criminality is unbelievable, but then again look at what they're doing to Assange.

I like the way anything that unravels the conspiracy theory of 'Russiagate' that has burdened the American people for two years, is now being called a conspiracy theory by its advocates.

I wonder. If there was an FBI source inside the Trump campaign then the GP info could have been leaked as well. I am mostly through the GP book audiobook version. It is confusing because it is mostly a set up. The offered Russian meetings seem to be offered by people who could not set them up.

GP was stupid (unable to learn from experience and error).

What experience and error? There wasn't any? George became suspicious as time went on with the attention he was being given, something his position as an energy consultant didn't merit. He was smart enough not to fall for the 'honey trap', or the Putin's niece idiocy and had the good sense to give the $10,000 to his lawyer in Athens. The bills are no doubt marked.

The stupid ones are those who assume others are stupid for having integrity. But isn't that always the case with criminals? They worked on an elaborate trap for years, with total disregard for George's human rights so they could destroy Trump, and instead are destroying themselves.

Secret police/spy agencies have a long history of clandestine treachery and criminal behavior. The American Left used to know that.

“European intelligence experts are amused at the readiness of their American counterparts to justify domestic practices as “defensive counterintelligence”. This has become apparent in the justifications for wiretapping. One can see it clearly in the report of the Saxby committee on the FBI's counterintelligence programs. This document, released in November 1974, justified the most aggressive forms of counterintelligence, deployed in a program conducted for some 15 years against nominal communists, on the ground that it “was conceived as a ‘counter intelligence’ effort in the purest sense”. The targets, the report argued, were really foreign spies and saboteurs.” The Age of Surveillance, The Aims and Methods of America's Political intelligence System, Frank J. Donner, Alfred A. Knopf, Inc., New York, 1980, p. 19.

    Amnesia?

I was blind at one time, but woke up with the demonizing of Assad in support of the jihadists when he was the most secular and tolerant leader in the Middle East. I guess better late than never.

They are working hard to make people think that, but I believe the trials will start - not that the MSM will ever let us know what's going on but there are always other sources like: RT, Sputnik, Consortiumnews, Moon of Alabama, etc.
