It seems like it's 100% about confirmation bias and nothing else.

Covid completely rotted a lot of brains out there. The idea of trusting government completely and multi billion dollar companies made me lose a lot of respect for the left movement. They just turned into establishment followers. They used to be rebels and try to stand up for the down trodden.

What a horrible empty husk they because over a tiny bit of panic.

 

The individual wanting truth must get information from multiple sources, consider the agenda of these sources, apply critical thinking, keep an open mind, and apply logical thinking. What we as a society can do to further truth is oppose censorship, allow a free exchange of information from those who disagree with us, and shine the light on rich people who use their money to control the flow of information to best fit their agenda. The last point of course being what the OP of this thread was about.

I think what people should do is use their common sense and do research for their self and use a bit of critical thinking and not depend on some self-dubbed fact checkers to do their thinking for them.

There is no use for them. They only created fact checkers after they lost monopoly control of the news and not every thing came from the New York Times and the alphabet half hour evening news. Once Rush Limbaugh, talk radio in general, cable news, and the Internet happened they needed a way to try to scare people back to their sources and failing that try to censor and blackball the competition. It isn’t working and won’t. The talk site similar to this one that I left (The NewsTalkers) was actually set up and moderated so that nothing from a site not approved of by MBFC could be bright there to start/ base a thread on and nothing they didn’t rate right could be referenced in any other discussion to support one’s point of view. Where seeding something from those sources or even leaving a live link to one in a “kosher” article was the same there as a 10 point warning here. That is why fact checkers is such a sore spot with me.
