To prevent Trump fom looking like a fool?

Even with the first goal above, it wasn't much of a success. Seems more like a show of weakness to me, to be honest, given the thickness of the gloves and the determination of the receiver.

As for the secondary goal - the destruction of chems - how could you eliminate what isn't? But just for this discussion's sake, let's assume that Assad indeed had chem factories and used them on his poeple, like the neocon narrative tells it: What was destroyed? I looked at the targeted site's photos this morning, and workers there have no mask or chem suit, and some are even having a smoke. The capacity to create some chems isn't that demanding - it takes a few guys in the know and some easily available, often household components.

I still say it's regime change.

Trumps policy depends on a solid western front.

When the 2nd laregst western economy breaks out of this front you have a massive diplomatic breah and others will follow.

Excuse me, that trophy goes to another country, and that one country alone. No one on planet earth is better at it than the we-are-the-greatest-thing-since-sliced-bread-they-all-hate-us-for-our-freedom-we-are-the-good-and-God's-own-top-dog-country. We just have to read this forum here (not that it represents reality, but tis a very vivid example).

Nice picture of Hitler. Are you wishing it was still the 1930s?

No need when you post such nice pictures of Hitler being cheered by adoring Germans.

How do you feel about Jews and/or Israel?

Well people in Damascus celebrate Assad. Your bombing strike destroyed three buildings. It was a utterfailure and one of the most powerful economies of this planet sides with Assad over this.

Whatever policy Trump had in mind is pretty much useless now.

The goal was to destroy three buildings. It was a complete success.

You know when I read your comment I could imagine a comedian on a stage using this exact line. And I would smile, perhaps even laugh

I wonder if you realize that Merkel's support of Assad means she can more easily justify changing her mind on taking more Syrian "refugees" into Germany.

The argument is not about whether the goal was accomplished. No one cares.

Quite the reverse, by supporting Assad in his war with terrorists, she creates a background for quick finish of the war and return all of the refugees back to Syria! Very smart!

Actually No. That is far more what we are expecting the US to take on now. If their President is so worried about it and some of their people determined to go to WW3 over it then people are expecting the US to show its care for children suffering so by announcing soon it will take maybe 5 or 6 Million from countries currently at war - and a lot of those wars of course started by the US itself.

I got the impression Merkel genuinely felt for the refugees. The AfD and Merkel are not the same.

American Empire of the 21st Century against dictators has nothing to do with chemical weapons.
That Arab Spring was a good thing, and the Assad Regime call them terrorists.

No thanks, they'd be more at home in local Muslim countries I'm sure.

What's that? Local Muslim countries don't want them?

Maybe Russia will take them in?

Local Muslim countries have taken in way more than they can afford but the US has cut funding for Refugees so save the children is going to have to send them to the US. 2-3 million Yemen children may come first. The ones that survive the bombing are dying of starvation.
But really it just shows the hypocrisy. The US does not give a damn for others. It just wanted an excuse to get at Iran.....and it lost.
