I think Trump sees his polls slipping and there is nothing harder that beating a sitting President during a conflict/war. Maybe he will try this. to come up with an excuse for war has been shown to be false, what reason would he have for staging the tanker attacks? Considering that Iran has been engaged in this type of activity in the past,
that they want to strike back for the sanctions, and that they want to show themselves tough to their oppressed population, the claim that Iran is behind the tanker attacks is the most logical explanation.
