In german its Tochter...you see how this is related to dokh-taar?

    and Bruder is your bara-daar?

    I think thats awesome.

@Bush Lawyer you see? German and Iranian (Farsi) is related. So you now say German is an arab language as well?

You should admit, you did not know that, Iranians are indoaryans and not arabs.

My question was...........am I being told that a Persian (Iranian) would be unable to converse with a Saud?

I note your 'PS.' As far as I am concerned a "little" bit of water separating Saudi Arabia from Iran while I acknlowledge it exists, it is irrelevant. The West ought not be there.

I don't give a flying fuq! I am well aware that a Persian is not an Arab...but.......Persia/Iran is IN my geographical image of Arabia. You might have a different view. I don't care. Arabia is for Arabs and the West has no role there. I don't want Australia there but I can see us being drawn by the US and our long term alliance with them. "Such is life."

Unless they happen to speak a common language (e,g., English, or Arabic or Persian), of course not. Most Iranians don't speak Arabic and most Saudis don't speak Persian!
Now you have fumbled on another land mine! The correct and historic name of the water you refer to is the Persian Gulf, which the Arabs -- now with some Americans on their side -- want to call the Arabian Gulf [sic]. Even that semantic has caused a good bit of uproar among the fiercely nationalistic Iranians.

Persian Gulf? Arabian Gulf? One big gulf in understanding

Has the US switched from calling the Persian Gulf 'Arabian' just to annoy Iran? It would seem that way

Clearly, I am not making my point firmly enough. (My) Arabia is for Arabs, and the West has no place there. Is that clear and okay bu you?

I am definitely okay with your stance about the West getting out of the region, but I don't see the need to express the point butchering geography and history along the way, Fine by you or not, if I had posted that drivel about Australia?China in a different context, I am sure at the very least it would look ignorant. And would unnecessarily detract from the point I was ostensibly making.

The Arabic language is popular in Iran because Iran is a Muslim country. This may be the reason why many Europeans consider Persians Arabs.

Islam without Arabic is impossible. Every true Muslim must learn Arabic.

It doesn't ruffle my feathers but you will find it difficult to talk to people if you have your own little world which is different to the one everyone else lives in.

Nice. You saw a great deal of the non urban areas. The bush. Shame you only saw Brisbane in the South East of Queensland. I have never been to Germany but, (can you believe) when I was in High School back in the 60s, I had to choose between learning French or German. I went for German.....but to this day, I have no idea why we were made to do that.

Regardless, very few Iranians speak Arabic even though it is taught in schools as part of the mandatory curriculum. English, by contrast, is widely spoken.

That's okay. Have at it. I reckon there is a better geographical proximity between Saudi Arabia and Iran than there is between Australia and China. I am free to make my point (Arabia is for Arabs) my way. If you want to use a mantra of "China is for Australians".....go for it. No skin off my nose.

You are stubborn, I will give you that! And, no, the equivalent mantra would be: "China, including Australia, is for the Chinese".

That will not wash, given geography. "Stubborn" you say! Not at all. :)

And your idiosyncratic geographical designation "washes" somehow?
What you have done is worse, actually, since there is historical, ethnic, political, cultural, and religious bad blood between the two sides,

Yes, I know. That is exactly why the West ought to get out of there and let them sort it out as they have for centuries. We have no right to be there. They can have at it as far as I am concerned.

I would oppose putting troops on the ground in Iran.
All we need to do is make sure shipping in the gulf is secure.
