Hi, My name is Jordan. I am from Wisconsin, 25, almost 26 years old. I have been a republican my whole life and am looking at becoming an elected official in 2014 at the county level to start. I enjoy debating, so if your on the left feel free to start something! I dont think I would be considered a traditional republican, I do believe in being financially responsible, having an army to defend us, I believe people should work for a living and not off of welfare, but on the flip side, I do not believe in religion and I am OK with gay marriage. Thanks for having me here on the forum!
Hey Karweik welcome! Your post points to the fact that most folks are not monolithic in their political philosophy. That being said, there are 'hot button' issues that do tend to be polarizing factors in most political discussions.
Thanks for the welcome. I agree 100% that most people are or shouldn't be attached to everything their party says.Once that happens you gave no brain and are just a follower. I have my "hot issues" like I'm sure most people do, but mine have more to do with our economy and the way money is being spent.
don't believe in religion and a republican? I foresee a very short political career...but welcome just the same...
Why is that? I know many people my age who have the same thoughts. people said the same thing about a black president, and look, we are stuck with one... I'm sure by the time I am old enough to run for president there will be a women president too. Worst case, I pretend to be religions like many other people pretend.
What he is saying is, the Republican party has become more and more archaic in their policies. If you are not a religious person, you may still have to support some of the draconian ideology that they think comes from the Bible, because if you don't you'll have a short career. So, you are claiming to be dishonest right from the getgo? You'll probably fit right into that party, then.
Well, even a person with no religion is not immuned from God's wisdom. Good luck to ya. And I look forward to hearing from you. I am curious though---wouldn't a fiscally conservative, socially liberal person be more in line with Libertarian?
Welcome and good luck to you in 2014. I know the cons here will be supporting you. What else do you stand for?
Good question. I am a firm believer in less is more. I believe that less government will help the people to have better, more successful lives. I think the tax code needs to be updated and simplified; flat tax? I also believe we need to get rid of Obama care, get rid of Social Security for anyone under 18 years old (maybe 30) and tell them that if they want to retire they need to start a 401k or IRA. They will have more money in the long run and it is better if that money is not in the governments hands. Simple common sense rights such as gay marriage needs to be passed. I would make the code say that marriage is between 2 people. That way someone cannot bring up getting married to animals. I think we need to stop handouts to other countries that we are not allied with. Our focus should be our own debt, not another countries. Why are we taking a loan from China that we have to pay interest on, and at the same time giving money to China to help them live, interest free and not taking anything off the loan? We need a strong army to help protect us from anyone who tries to attack us or one of our allies. We need reform the welfare system. Make the people who are on welfare work for the city, pick up garbage, do something. We cant let people just live off of the government. If they are handicap or have a disability, that is one thing, but there are many people capable of working who choose not to. Illegal aliens, yes Illegal aliens, not undocumented workers, they need to be sent back home. We cannot fill up our country with more people until we can take care of our own people. US citizens must be the priority. Getting rid of them will create more jobs for our citizens. We need harsher laws to stop them and better security along the border. We need to stop looking at businesses and success as a bad thing. The current administration has made becoming successful or owning a business seem like a sin. We need to show people why business is good, and why all wealthy people are not bad. I'm sure there is more but I cant think right now.
All right. Let me help you generate more ideas to focus on. What's your drug policy? Honesty will it be an issue? Stance on civil liberties such as cameras and domestic usage of drones?
I don't. But does that mean you are trying to "trick" people? Rudy Giuliani is a socially liberal, fiscally conservative candidate that I wanted to vote for (I'm a conservative Christian far righty type)-- I honestly felt he read the constitution as it was originally intended. Which in my mind made him a legit republican and made him an attractive candidate.. Libertarians tend to not take the constitution in its entirety and as intended. Which is one reason I veer away from them.
Drug policy: Legalize pot, I have never smoked it but the research I did and from people I know who have used it say its a lot like alcohol. I would make the same laws as alcohol when it comes to pot. Other drugs, I do not know enough about their effects on people so for that reason I would keep them illegal. By legalizing pot we will keep many people out of jail, saving the tax payers money. We would be bringing in more tax's from the sale as well. Domestic drones should be without weapons. I think it would be good to use drones on the borders and other uses to protect citizens. They should not be used as a weapon on our soil. Cameras... What do you mean? Cameras like on block corners, or cameras in peoples hands?
I am not trying to trick anyone. I am a republican. The issues I am most passionate about are the financial crisis and tax's. I fall right in line with a republican. I call myself a new era republican because I believe in many issues that the republican party will eventually have to understand if they want to survive. I believe I am more in the middle, I do not consider myself an extremist. I use my own judgement on what I think is right, I dont say I am a republican and bow down to everything the party believes in, I think on my own. I believe in our constitution 100% Like I said, less is more. If we go back to our roots, I believe we will have a happier country.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Um, welcome to the forum I GUESS.....................................
You can't spell, yet you're hoping to win an election? Oh well, it'll probably work. It's 21st century America. - - - Updated - - - That's a plus for Karweik.
Welcome to the forum. I see we already share some of the same beliefs. I'm a conservative agnostic who has no problem with gay marriage.
Just prepare yourself to be labelled a Liberal....because according to many Republicans here, we are RINO's. Have a great time.
Could you explain what you mean about Drones and Pot, for instance how far should it go before it becomes too much? Cameras, should cities install them and what is the best way to insure privacy?
